To my dearest daughter Zelda,
You do not know how much it pains me to leave you so soon in your life. There is still so much you have to learn about your duty to our beloved Kingdom of Hyrule, and you have yet to learn how to harness the power of the Goddess Hylia. My dear child, I still have so much to teach you but so little time to tell.
I will begin by reassuring you when you start to doubt yourself and the kingdom which you are so dearly fighting for. I know very well how difficult the royal lifestyle is. Sometimes there will be days where you wish you could leave forever, and never have to carry the burden of protecting Hyrule. On other days, you will relish every moment you spent making Hyrule a better place for yourself and for its citizens.
Now I will inform you a little bit about the powers of the Goddess which lurks inside you. As I am writing this, you have yet to unlock your power. Regardless of what your father says, do not despair. Unlocking your powers may take as long as a decade, or it may take a lifetime. Do not think you are any different than all the other princesses of Hyrule because they have unlocked their powers sooner than you. At one point in their lives, they have struggled as well with this very same issue. I have complete faith in you, my daughter. Do not let this sadden you in any way.
This leads me to the last subject I wish to discuss: your father. As you get older, you will notice your father will start to have higher expectations of you and will begin to discipline you more fervently than ever before. Do not let this trouble you, Zelda for he means nothing malicious by it. He does indeed love you very much regardless if you see it or not. He does not show love through comforting words or helpful advice. That kind of love is something which only a mother can give. He will show love by pushing you to your limit, and by making you mad at him at times. All of his little oddities have meaning to it. You will notice it in due time, my dearest Princess.
I am growing weary of writing so I shall end my letter right here. Zelda, my dear, I wish I could write you all the advice I have to give you in a book so you wouldn't have to struggle about a single thing in your life. But alas, it seems the Goddess Hylia has other plans for me and as well as you. The next time you see me will be your last time but do not weep for me for I am only one citizen in a vast kingdom which needs your guidance and kindness. Treat others as you yourself would like to be treated.
With great love and regret,
Princess Zelda's dearest mother, The Queen of Hyrule
