He knew exactly what she was going to say by the way her lips turned into a smirk. She wasn't going to hand him the remote. He wasn't going to be able to watch his beloved Chocobo racing. He glanced between the television and the woman for a moment, shifting nervously on his feet. She pretended to be oblivious. After a few more minutes of silence, he tried again.

"Aerith I have to watch the race. I've got a bet on!" he said. When she still didn't budge, he added. "If I win, I'll buy you that necklace you wanted."

Aerith's eyebrow cocked up. She was obviously thinking about it. She looked up at him and shook her head, a playful smile on her lips. "The programme's nearly finished okay? You'll catch your race."

Cloud wandered over to her slowly, a look of determination on his face. She glanced at him, her fingers curling tighter around the remote. It was always like this when their programmes clashed, each one determined to win the battle.

He pounced and she shifted to the left, avoiding the majority of his body weight. He growled in annoyance and grabbed her ankles, pulling her back towards him. A startled squeal escaped her lips and the remote fell behind her, escaping down the crack of the cushions. Cloud immediately reached for it but Aerith twisted her body under him, her hands attacking his wrists in an attempt to push them away. The sudden, jerking movements of her body caused him to tumble off the sofa, taking Aerith with him. They landed on the floor with a thump and Cloud let out a small groan of pain. Aerith, who had landed on top of Cloud straightened up.

"You okay?" she asked. Cloud reached a hand up to rub his head.

"Yeah," he muttered. A feeling of guilt flooded through her body and she bit her lip. She reached up to the sofa and dug out the remote, handing it to him with a whispered apology before she stood and left the room.

Cloud remained silent for a moment before he dropped his hand, a triumphant smirk on his lips as he settled into the chair.
