Alone

Teyla stood staring at her reflection in her mirror, the almost indescribable blue-green colour of her dress and the layers around her. The ring ceremony had finished only moments ago and after discovering that death wasn't imminent for the rest of them she retreated to her room where she now found herself. She was now truly alone, her family, her mother and father and now Charin. It's true her people will be there for her as will the occupants of Atlantis but Charin had been there for her whole life and after the losses of all those close to her, the support centre that was her surrogate Grandmother is now more rubble adding to the once firm stronghold of support. She was numb to the tears that rolled down her cheeks, she only knew they were there because she could taste them on her lips, everything else around her had no effect on her, she was alone in a swirling vortex of emotion that secluded her from the rest of the world. That barrier was broken moments later as she felt herself being brought into a strong embrace

"Teyla" his voice was thick with love and support "I had no idea" he kissed the top of her head and she felt safe.

As soon as John had heard the news of Charin he rushed to Teyla's quarters, he knew she was there so he called in after her. There was no response to any of his calls so he used his gene to open the door and saw her standing staring at her reflection in the mirror, oblivious to her surroundings, tears flowing freely down her cheeks. His heart ached at the sight and he walked to her side, engulfing her in his embrace

"Teyla" he said pouring his emotion into his voice "I had no idea" he kissed the top of her head gently as he let her cry into his chest.

"I feel so alone" she sobbed, he was shocked at this admission from the woman who usually masked her true emotions with her leadership facade

"You will never be alone" he whispered, memorising the feeling of her in his arms, keeping her safe forever "I swear it"
