Kai had thoroughly done his research. This game was going to be his favorite of all time. The sixteen year old, sweaty-handed and flustered, set off in search of his girlfriend. Clasped nervously in his hand was a red box. In white lettering, the box read "Pocky".
"Jinora! Wanna play a game?" Kai said excitedly at the sight of his girlfriend walking through the corridor.
"Uh, sure?" she replied calmly, hesitation and curiosity laced in her voice. She eyed the box that sat between Kai's palms. "Pocky? The little chocolate covered biscuits?"
"Mhm," Kai nodded affirmatively. "There's this game, the Pocky Game…"
"Yeah, okay?"
"Well, so, uhm-" Kai stumbled on. He never imagined how awkward it would be to actually describe how to play the Pocky game to Jinora; he just imagined what a good opportunity the game would've been to kiss his girlfriend.
"Is this that one game where two people try to eat the Pocky stick until there's like two centimeters between them?" Jinora asked.
Thank the spirits. Kai was relieved he wouldn't have to explain the concept to Jinora, because if he did, he thought he would've caught fire from an excessive blush that had spread across his cheeks.
"So, did you want to play?" he scratched at the back of his neck awkwardly. Jinora simply smirked; she knew well enough what her boyfriend's intentions were. Slyly, she nodded. While eager, Kai was trembling. He imagined this process being a smooth, suave romantic thing. Reality proved that, so far, this was an awkward, flustered thing. As he thought to himself, he opened the package of biscuits. He withdrew one Pocky stick. He handed it to Jinora; she proceeded to place it between her lips. Jinora eyed Kai expectantly, waiting for him to join the game. Kai nervously took the other end of the Pocky between his teeth, eyes shut. He slowly opened his eyes as the two began to nibble their Pocky. Their faces were a mere four inches apart; Kai, as cheesy as it was, couldn't stop admiring how beautiful Jinora's face was, silky smooth with a pearly glow. Jinora maintained an waivered expression, eyes wide and innocent. Truly though, both teens heart rates increased exponentially. Both Kai and Jinora were thankful that the other couldn't hear the butterflies swirling in their stomachs. The Pocky stick shortened between the two until the two centimeters remained. Kai saw that as his opportunity.
In one swiftly awkward moment, he bluntly moved forward, nibbling the last piece of Pocky that separated him from Jinora. His lips gently grazed hers, briefly and sweetly before he drew back. Jinora simply smirked.
"I thought the goal was to have two centimeters of the Pocky left," she teased.
"Yeahhh…maybe I'm just not that good at this game," Kai laughed. "Maybe we should practice more." His hand returned to idling at the back of his neck, a nervous impulse he'd had since he met Jinora.
Jinora rolled her eyes while laughing. "Sure," she said. She then stood on her tiptoes, her lips brushing against Kai's ear. "But, y'know you don't have to play the game to get a kiss," she whispered.
At this declaration, Kai's cheeks flushed entirely, and he was floored. With or without playing, Kai knew that the Pocky game was indeed one of his favorite games…that was until Meelo asked to play; thus, as a revisedstatement, the Pocky game was his favorite game to play with Jinora.
