A/N: I wrote this story a while ago. But didn't post it because I didn't think it was that good. But I'm posting it now anyways. I hope you like it!

Never Again

Washed over with emotion, she held on to the railing for dear life. Her body racked with sobs, she slumped over and crumpled into a ball onto her side.

There was nothing they could do they said. Carson's words rung over and over in her head. Each word hurt bombarding her mind, her soul. Her heart. They tormented her hurling themselves at her as she curled herself into a smaller ball. Her head in her lap.

This time the Wraith didn't get him or life-sucking bugs.

Just a snake not even a big one. Just a snake bite and he'd die. A slow and painful death.

Snake bite. She hated those words already. They drummed into her brain at a steady rhythm. Each one killing her a bit more.

"Dr. Weir. Dr. Weir." A voice called from a distance. Trying to recover herself. She pulled her body from the ground.

The voice called again sounding distantly like Carson's.

"Over here." She shouted and letting out a final sob.

She wiped away the streaks of tears left on her face and waited.

"Dr. Weir?" he questioned coming on to the balcony.

"Yes. Carson." She answered dreading his response.

"Is he…" she gulped unable to finish the sentence. To say the dreaded word.

"No, no." Carson assured. "And I think I found cure."

She missed chunks of what he said. "Teyla…her people…cure… Stargate…mission."

"Yes go!" she said in a daze. "Quickly."

"It may be dangerous." He said.

"I understand." She reassured. "Be careful."

Carson left, her mind in the clouds. Slowly coming back down to Earth bits of what Carson said came back to her.

Even if they could get the antidote in time. If they could it at all. And if I worked.

Slumping back to the ground, she felt hopeless. Hadn't they always made it out before? One part of her brain argued. The hopeful part.

She could feel tears rolling down her cheeks. She tried to stop convince herself there was no point.

Burying the gasps that refused to stay down, she tried to stop the need to cry. She needed to be there when the team came back.

She breathed out trying to gain control. A noise of footsteps quickly made her look up.

"John!" she gasped. She pulled herself off the ground straighten her clothes out.

He was deadly white. Holding back a sob, she asked. "What are you doing here?" Managing to evade looking him in the face, she kept clasping her hands in different ways.

"Elizabeth." He said in such a way she had to look at him.

She watched him look at her.

He took a step closer and held out a hand. She hesitantly placed her hand in his. Sobs racked her body once again and she fell into his tight embrace.

She could hear him whisper. "Everything's going to be okay." It was ironic that he was comforting her when it should be the other way around.

Time passed slowly and soon her com came on. Startling her out of daze answered.

"Yes, Carson."

"Dr. Weir have you seen Major Sheppard."

"Yes, Carson. We'll be down the infirmary soon."

He gave her one last squeeze before letting her go.

"Let's go." She said, "But promise me one thing."

"What?" he asked cocking his head to the side.

"Never again! Let this happen." She answered.

"Never again." he reassured.
