Santa's Visit
The house was quiet. Not even a mouse could be heard moving on the silent winter night. Every one was snug in bed, nice and warm.
Outside, the forest was silent as it rose towards the clear night sky. No one around for miles.
Slowly, quietly the sound of bells grew louder. Till they almost became too loud.
A sleigh pulled by nine reindeer flew over head. It landed next to the house. The driver hopped out and walked up to the front door.
With a wave of his hand, it opened for him. He walked in quietly and went straight to the tree.
He smiled as he glanced at the pictures around him. Even after watching all these years, these two held a special place in his heart.
They had given so much to the world. Done so much for the world, and most did not know of what they had done. They had never asked for anything in return.
The world owed them and a select group of others so much. Well, it was beyond time to give back to them.
He quickly went to work. He had a lot of houses to visit, not just these select few.
Once he was finished he gave a nod and out the door he walked.
It locked closed behind him as he jumped back into his sleigh.
With a jerk of the reins, the reindeer took flight into the air.
He looked down at the house as he flew higher up.
"Thank you, Rangers, on behalf of the world. Merry Christmas."
This just came to me a few days ago. It's sort of a play on "Twas The Night Before Christmas."
