He Loves Me for Me

He doesn't argue with me, his voice is patient in a loving optimistic kind of way. He sounds like a dope sometimes as he rattles on about hamburgers and airplanes. But I listen, my green eyes study him and his exterior. How his eyes sparkle when his large goofy smile is on his face.

We walk through the carnival, he jointly skips beside me, beside himself with a glee that came from no where. He points towards a cotton candy stand and blabbers on excitedly about the cloud like sugary treat as he wraps his strong fingers around my wrist and pulling me over to the stand.

We walk about eating the whisk like sugar, mine was pink of course, his was a baby blue. It was getting dark and the sky was covered in a magenta and orange colour. The clouds where lazily puffing by as the sun (which was a large egg yoke in the sky) dropped.

Now it's my turn to talk, I tell him about my house, I tell him how we don't have things like roller-coasters there, rarely at all. I tell him how my people are still poor people, I tell him we're grateful to be friends with him, we're happy still. We hope still.

I think it kind of shocked him because he stops and stares at me, cotton candy half way to his mouth. He asks me if I'm sure of what I'm saying and I just smile and nod. He gives me this expression of a sad sort of happy. (If you understand that line I'm sure you'll know what I'm talking about.) He walks past me taking my free hand and leading me silently to a giant Ferris Wheel.

We wait in line in a comfortable silence, its one of those moments when neither of us have anything to say and we just enjoy each other's company. I'm being to get tired and my feet are starting to hurt. (freaking high heels) I lean my head on his shoulder, it's soft because of his bomber jacket fur. He glances at me, a faint pink to his cheeks, I chuckle and close my eyes.

Minutes later we're sitting in a seat together, I place my hands on the safety bar, holding us in place. He places a hand on top of mine, I pretend not to notice. Like I thought, it gets to him, so he moves closer. I feel blood raising to my cheeks. I try to remark with something trademark of mine, yet I can't say anything.

"I bet I can see my house from here."

He says to me, I laugh glancing at him. His eyes unwavering, locking with mine. As we move closer, as the stars twinkle above us giving us a light from heaven, and from earth the circus lights make our skin glow all the colours of the rainbow. Our lips meet, and I know.

He loves me for me.
