Disclaimer: I do not own NCIS

Spoilers: none

A/N: I was looking through my stories and realized that I did not have a single purely NCIS story. Well, that had to be fixed. I recently stumbled upon the NFA community and wanted to try a challenge there so this is a response to the Man of Few words challenge. :)

After a long day of rushing around catching killers, a man just needed some time to unwind. Well, that or a stiff drink. Some went golfing or fishing. Others read or watched movies. Gibbs, well, Gibbs built boats. The feel of the wood beneath his hands was somehow therapeutic to his weary mind. He took pride and satisfaction from creating something out of nothing.

He built it all by hand, of course. Power tools couldn't even begin to replicate the sensation that his well worn hand tools gave him. He would sit on a stool, drink bourbon from a Mason jar and sand down a rough patch on his boat. Scenes like that were especially common when a case wasn't quite adding up or was weighing on his mind. It was scenes like that that often triggered the case solving epiphany.

Anyone who has every dropped by his house has at one time or another found him in the basement working on his boat. Anyone who has ever seen the boat in the basement has wondered how on earth he gets it out of the basement. However he does it, there will always be another one to take its place not long after.

I hope you enjoyed it and a special thank you to everyone who is awesome enough to review. I appreciate it. God Bless.
