Hershel looked around the room. The room that held his family, and he smiled to himself. He watched as Daryl and Carol laughed with each other as they played a card game, and he was thankful that there was someone that could make the quiet man laugh and draw him out of himself for a little while.

There was his youngest, Beth, trying to hide the moony eyes she had for the older sheriff as he paced back and forth with his sleeping baby in his arms. Hershel knew he would have to keep an eye on his girl, try to make sure that she didn't get herself hurt with her crush.

Michonne and Carl were talking about her sword and how she learned how to use it. Everyone was glad that there was someone for the boy to talk to, someone to help him with the anger that was always so close to the surface.

Maggie and Glenn, sitting in the middle of a group of people, but only seeing each other, were talking quietly to each other as they sat, her legs over his and his arm around her shoulders. Hershel know that they have had their hard times and that there will be more to come in the future, but he knows that they will get through them together. They aren't a weakness to the other, their love for each other is what gives them both their strength.

Yes there were more people in the prison now, more people that they would have to worry about and take care of, but looking around this room right now, Hershel knew that it was moments like this, when they got to just be a family, that made all the hard times worth it.
