Memphis, Tennesse, Katherine couldn't figure out how she had ended up here. She had taken a pause, just trying to put as many miles between her and Mystic Falls. She had gotten free of Klaus, out of the original drama. As much as she wanted was Klaus dead, Mikael was a greater threat in the end, but it did not make Klaus any safer. She took a shot of whiskey, bringing the liquid to her lips and sucking it down like water, or blood in her case. She heaved a sigh, relishing in the fact that she was free. The ability to make her own decisions and not trick people into thinking she was obeying them was nearly euphoric after being trapped with Klaus who made her stab herself and burn her skin in the sun.
Instantly, when the door opened to the bar, Katherine stiffened. She held her breath as if it would help to camouflage herself, but it didn't as she felt someone come and sit next to her. Her dark eyes roamed over his body in a sense of worry, but Elijah knew not to make scenes in public like this. He was noble, wanting to keep innocents safe. A bar full of drunken petty humans would not be the scene for him to exact his revenge upon her for leaving him those many years ago. Katherine lifted her eyes to Elijah, lips pressed unsure of what to say.
"So this is where you have been hiding, Katerina?" he crooned, waving the bartender down for his own drink. Katherine shifted uneasily in her seat, "It was as far as I got from Mystic Falls at this point. I planned on moving forward again tomorrow, disappearing again," she said softly. "Like you always do, Katerina. I wouldn't expect anything less…" Elijah countered, taking a sip of his drink. Katherine was tense, however, Elijah wasn't giving off the aura that he wanted to harm her. This was like any other conversation in the bar.
"Why are you here, Elijah?" Katherine asked hesitantly. They hadn't been on the best of terms, but that was mainly because of Elijah's loyalty to his brother, Klaus. However, when she had been in Mystic Falls the last time, Elijah was back in his coffin, because Klaus had daggered him. Katherine wondered how much trust Elijah still had for his brother. She looked back to her drink, running her finger over the rim of the glass. She could feel Elijah's eyes on her. She wondered if he was going to compel her to go with him, take her to Klaus. Klaus may not have needed her anymore, but Klaus so did love to torture those who betrayed him. Katherine looked to Elijah as she heard him draw a long breath. He looked up, his eyes gazing into hers for a moment.
"You told me a few years ago that I needed to catch you, here I am, catching you…"
