Cliché
Chapter 1
'Reid you know that song is really annoying right?' Morgan was driving and despite what he said he had a huge smile on his face as his best friend sang on oblivious to what he had said.
'But so catchy.' was the reply he got after the song had finished.
The pair were on a road trip with the vacation time, not certain where but they had everything they needed. at this point they were about 100 miles from Quantico and had no cell coverage as Reid noticed when he tried to reply to a text from JJ.
'Hmm, I hope we get one soon, I don't want to keep her waiting.'
'Hey, Pretty Boy, she'll be fine.' Morgan smirked.
'You know, for all the times I've said I hate that term, I'm kind of starting to like it.
Morgan's head whipped round, 'There we go, some honesty coming out, that's what these road trips are all about.' They both laughed as the song from earlier came on the radio again, this time they both sang their hearts out.
1 hour and 65 Miles later.
'Hey do you want me to drive for a bit? You look tired.' Reid asked, concerned.
'Sure Kiddo, I've got an awful headache.' He had for about 45 minutes but didn't want to impose on Reid, he knew the younger man could drive, just didn't do it much.
'Hey how about we stop in here for a bit first?' A little diner was coming up and the sign promised the best milkshakes in the county.
'Sounds good, maybe they'll have some painkillers for your headache.'
They pulled into the parking lot of a diner named Greasy Jane's and they both shared a look of utter amusement. Cliché or what?
It looked quite nice inside, typical roadside diner decor but the sign didn't lie, they were the best milkshakes.
'Wow, I don't even like milkshakes, in fact my mom wouldn't let have one as a kid, I'd never tried it till I was 22.'
What else haven't you tried yet kid?! Ice cream sundaes?'
'Actually no, and I've never had a Cheeto a Burrito or a Toffee Apple.' He was so matter of fact that it shocked Morgan.
'Seriously kid?'
'Yup.' He took another sip of his milkshake through his curly straw.
'Ok this road trip just got a whole new purpose. i am going to get you all those firsts you've never had, of the culinary world that is.'
They drank the rest of their milkshakes and headed out on the road again, with Reid driving.
After about 10 miles Morgan fell asleep, must have been the painkillers, Reid thought. He checked the clock, it was 5.30pm.
8.45pm
A large pothole woke Morgan and he bolted upright in his seat.
'Oh hey, don't worry it's just a pothole, you feel any better?'
'God no, I feel like someone's playing stomp in my head. but that wasn't a pothole, we've got a flat.'
'Oh.' He pulled off the road and looked over at Morgan who was holding his head in his hands. He knew how bad headaches can be, when he studied for hours on end in college he would get terrible migraines.
'I'll go change the wheel and then we need to find a motel somewhere, you need to sleep this off.'
A thumbs up was all Morgan could manage at this point so Reid got to work.
