Prompt: Have your character accept a ride from someone she doesn't know all that well...
Huffing a sigh as the tow truck hauled her car away, June Darby turned to face the dark green SUV parked by the curb a little ways back.
"Guess I'll need that ride after all," she mumbled, walking over and opening the passenger side door. "Are you sure you don't mind?"
"Naw, it's no trouble, Ms. Darby." A deep, masculine voice answered her. Clambering up into the seat, June made sure to buckle up before the SUV pulled away from the curb. The thickly cushioned leather she sat on was... Surprisingly comfortable. More so that she would have expected. And the windows, though darkly tinted, were exceptionally clean, allowing the woman a pristine view of the houses passing by as they drove out of town.
The air conditioning suddenly kicked on, causing her to twitch in surprise. "Sorry," the driver apologized.
"It's fine." June quickly told him, leaning forward slightly to more greatly appreciate the strong blast of cold air. After almost a whole decade of living in Jasper, Nevada, her own car didn't have much strength at all to make rides cooler - a fact her sixteen year old son Jack had long complained of, hence his love of travelling by motorcycle. Speaking of teenagers...
"How's Miko doing these days?" June asked, reclining more easily into the seat as she opted to make small talk. Her companion chuckled sheepishly.
"She, uh, she's doing okay. I think. Kid got herself another detention, but it was for getting in a fight with some bullies and she seemed pretty proud of herself for it." They ended up discussing the positives and drawbacks of trying to look after a girl who continually stood up for others by throwing herself into the line of fire.
"Hopefully, she'll just stick to schoolyard bullies, instead of getting involved with your fights." The grown woman crossed her arms in exasperation.
"I dunno, Miko's done her fair share of helping us win some battles. Raf and Jack, too." At the mention of her son's involvement with the secret war, June stiffened. The teen said very little about the sorts of, of activities, that he and his friends got into, but that spoke worlds to how dangerous it all was.
Before June could voice her opinion on the matter, her ride was pulling into the former military silo that served as a base for the warriors from another world. The woman carefully exited the SUV, taking a few steps forward before turning to face the one who'd been kind enough to give her a lift. Transforming out of his vehicle mode, the large robotic being stretched out the kinks in his cables and armor.
"Thank you for the ride, Bulkhead." She said honestly, getting the green Transformer to smile down at her. "We'll have to do that again sometime."
"Hopefully not when your car blows another piston, though."
"Oh, I don't know about that - if I end up stranded again, you're the first one I'm calling for a lift." And with that, June turned to go see what her son and the other Autobots were getting into for the day.
A/N: HA! My very first published Transformers Prime fic! And technically written for a school assignment, at that. I so cannot wait to see how my workshop members and teacher react to this - there is no explicit rule against bringing fan fiction pieces in for the assignments, after all...
