Outside, the sky sounded like it was being split in half, cracks echoing for miles as lightening lit up the darkness. Rain pounded down, hammering onto people as they hurried by, in a rush to get home and out of the rain, into the warmth of their homes.
Inside one particular home Dan lay curled up under a blanket, in the lounge where he covered his ears, trying to block out the thunderstorm. Ever since he was little he'd been terrified of them, and his safe place was always to be hidden under a blanket where he tried to kid himself that it would be over in minutes.
He jumped when he heard a much louder banging sound, coming right from over by the lounge door and he gripped his blanket in his hands, too scared to get up, though he peaked out. He internally gasped, seeing a figure in the dark, moving around quietly, floorboards creaking. He sucked in a breath as they got closer, hiding back under the blanket, trying to stay as still as possible, though he yelped when suddenly the blanket was snatched away from him and hands grabbed him.
Struggling and squirming to get free, Dan shoved the person off of him, only for his eyes to widen when he heard a familiar "Dan!" being exclaimed as the person fell, landing on their bum.
Dan hurriedly turned the lamp on, before he burst into laughter, "Phil! You scared the hell out of me!" he exclaimed, seeing his boyfriend pouting up at him, hair a mess and glasses askew.
"I didn't mean it! The light was off; I was checking if you were sleeping!" Phil squeaked, pouting more and fixing his glasses.
Dan just rolled his eyes, "There's a thunderstorm so the lights had cut out, plus that's no way to check if someone's sleeping, you practically ripped the blanket off of me, I could have gotten injured!" he exaggerated.
Now it was Phil's turn to roll his eyes, "Drama queen much" he muttered, and Dan raised his eyebrows, "What was that Philly?!" he asked.
Phil smirked, "Don't you worry Dan, now are you okay though? I hurried home to check on you, I got worried because of the thunder" he murmured, serious now and he looked at Dan, concerned.
Dan bit his lip a little, "I was scared to be honest" he said quietly.
Phil smiled softly, "How about hot chocolate and cuddles in bed, that sound good?" he asked, kissing Dan's cheek, wanting him to forget about the storm.
Dan's face lit up and he nodded quickly at that, "Yes please" he said, blushing when he was kissed.
Phil nodded and gently pushed Dan towards the bedroom, "Get comfy, I'll get the drinks" he instructed Dan.
Dan smiled at Phil affectionately and he nodded, going into the bedroom and getting under the blanket, curling up.
Phil soon returned with the hot chocolates and he placed them on the side, before getting into bed and he cuddled Dan to his chest gently, "I love you Dan" he whispered.
"I love you too, Phil" Dan whispered, snuggling into Phil and cuddling him back, feeling safer now that he was in his boyfriends arms.
