Prologue
Dipper sat on the patch of the couch in the shack that he actually considered 'clean.' You never know, living with Grunkle Stan. Of course, you'd think Ford would try to clean things up but there isn't much you can do for a couch. Dipper tried not to think about it. He snuggled deeper into the couch and scribbled in a journal. This journal was blue with the classic gold edges, and in the middle of the journal's cover was a small circle with the Big Dipper inside. It was a gift from Ford for Dipper's birthday, a year ago. The thing still wasn't complete, and Dipper was starting to think it was longer than the infinity-sided dye. Ah, the dye. That seemed like so many summers ago. It felt like an eternity ago, being that age and being so clueless. At least he'd learned- from the monsters, the emotional twin drama, and mostly- The Weirdmageddon. Oh, speaking of that, maybe we should rewind the story? That seems easier.
Chapter One
A year after Weirdmageddon, Dipper and Mabel's parents were re-stationed with their job on the border of Oregon. They had the option of staying with their parents throughout the summer, or with Stanley and Stanford. Their parent's eyes seemed grim when they explained the two elder twins were going to be frail soon and that they should spend enough time with them before- well, I'm sure you know. Dipper and Mabel had compromised that each leap year, for as long as they had left in school, they'd spend the school year at the Shack. It was a working deal. Being fourteen and becoming freshmen after this summer, they knew they'd only have one school year at the shack. The twins tried hard not to think about the future. Meanwhile, while that family branch moved and talked about it, Stan and Ford worked hard to contain Weirdmageddon. Ford thought it to be too risky to keep it in a rift once again, at least in the shack, so he sent it to a few friends whom were quite far away, Rick and Morty. He trusted them more than anyone other than his family. Stanley disapproved, but he didn't know what Stanford went through in that portal. They kept a captain's journal together and often wrote to the shack employees and their mini-mock- twins, Dipper and Mabel. Soon though, Soos announced it was an honor to work at the shack but he was ready to marry Melony, and start a life with her. (Of which, Mabel screeched A LOT at the wedding), and Stan and Ford sailed home. Wendy was helping her aunt in her new axing program in a town ten miles down from Gravity Falls, and a few minutes away from Soos and Melony. Everyone truly moved on. That summer was over, and nothing could match up to how magical last summer was, but hey, this is just a new chapter.
Chapter Two
Dipper bit down on his pencil. A week until his favorite book series found out.
"You don't understand Mabel!" He exclaimed, "I'll finally know who stole the capers!"
Ford nodded from across the breakfast table. "It is a huge controversy."
Mabel and Stan erupted in laughter. "Whatever, dorks," Stan chuckled.
Ford and Dipper looked at each other with a knowing look. This was familiar.
Nevertheless, it was so good to be back. Dipper had never missed being teased so much.
