Chad called Sonny. He isn't sure how she'll react to the change in plans.

"Sonny, you know I love you, right?" Chad asked. They have confessed their love for each other, but they aren't really 'dating' yet.

"Yes. Why?" asked Sonny.

"Well, the producer of Mackenzie Falls wants me to go with Portlyn to the movie premiere for publicity." Chad replied.

"WHAT?" yelled Sonny.

"Sonny, I wanted to let you know so you wouldn't be mad – " Sonny interrupted him.

"Well, I am mad now! There's nothing going on between –" Chad interrupted her.

"No, there isn't. I love you." Chad replied.

"Okay, as long as it's just for publicity." Sonny said hesitantly.

"It is." Chad reassured her.

Two hours later . . . .

I can't believe he did this to me! He's such a liar! Sonny thought.

Chad knocks on the door of Sonny's apartment, with a very special mission to accomplish.

Connie, Sonny's mother, answered the door. Chad took one look at her eyes and avoids them as quickly as possible. They showed disapproval, and anger.

What did I do? Chad thought.

Before he could speak, Connie opened her mouth, and made her voice loud and clear. "What did you do to my daughter?" In the background, he hears Sonny crying, and it breaks his heart.

What did I do? Chad asks himself again.

"I would like to talk to her for just a minute, please, Mrs. Munroe. I don't know what I did." Chad said. Connie sighed, and it seemed she could tell he wasn't lying.

"Go ahead." Connie replied, and Chad walked to Sonny's bedroom door.

Chad knocked on the door.

"Sonny?"

"Go away, you jerk!" Sonny yelled. Chad cautiously looked back at Connie, but all Sonny's mother gave him was a shrug.

"Sonny, please, let me come in. What did I do?" Chad said.

"Oh, please, you know what you did! Or do you have amnesia?" Sonny yelled.

"Maybe I do. Refresh my memory." Chad begged.

"You KISSED Portlyn!" Sonny exclaimed.

Chad sighed, and opened up the door, surprised that she didn't lock it. He walked in.

"No, I didn't. Who told you that?" asked Chad.

"Your producer." Sonny cried.

"Figures." Chad muttered.

"What do you mean?" asked Sonny.

"Of course he would tell you that so you wouldn't do as well on So Random and then Mackenzie Falls would stay number one. My producer is even more obsessed with being number one than I am. And that's saying something." Chad explained with a laugh.

Then he got serious. "I would never lie to you, Sonny. Portlyn, frankly, I think she'd be the absolute last person I would be with on the planet."

"You mean that?" asked Sonny.

"Yeah, I do." Chad said. He smiled. "I'll be right back."

Chad went back into the living room to Connie and explained the misunderstanding. Connie smiled.

"And I wanted to ask you something, Mrs. Munroe, if I had permission from you to –" Connie interrupted him.

"Oh no! You are much too young to get married!"

"I mean permission to date her." Chad said with a blush. He lowered his voice to be sure Sonny wouldn't hear. "Of course I've thought about marrying her one day, but not right now."

"Oh, good. Then, of course, dear. You have my permission to date my daughter." Said Connie.

"Thanks so much, Mrs. Munroe." Chad said. "Now I have to make an important phone call."

Chad dialed a number on his cell and waited for it to ring.

"Hello, Frank, yeah, next time you try messing with a Random, don't. That's my job. Your job is to make Mackenzie Falls the best it can be. Got it? Good. Don't make that mistake again or you're fired."

Then he went back into Sonny's bedroom.

"Sonny, don't listen to what anyone else says, ok? Trust me. I want you to know that you can trust me. And I would like to ask you if you wanted to go on a date tomorrow night." Chad said.

"But the movie primiere – "Chad interrupted her with a kiss, and then continued her sentence, "- is not important at all."
