Unsent Feelings
Dear Ginevra Weasley,
How could you date Harry? How could you? I thought you knew better than that, but oh no, you're dating him. I know you don't love him. I've seen you with him. I've seen the way you act around him. You don't really like him at all. Why are you with him? Fame? Money? No, I know you better than that. You're with him so that no one finds out who you're really in love with. Although to be honest I don't blame you. What would your family say if they found out you were in love with that foul, evil little cockroach. That ferret!
Much as I love you, I just can't work out why you do the things you do. I know that Harry saved you from the chamber. I know that he saved your brother from poison. I know that he saved your father from a snake bite. But you don't owe him your hand. You don't!
Please, please break off the wedding. Please, please follow your heart. Please.
Sincerely, Hermione Granger.
Hermione started at the parchment in front of her. Her eyes flickered over the inked words and then darted to the impatient owl on the window sill. She couldn't send that. She just couldn't.
Wearily, she struck through the words with her quill until all that was left was an inky mess.
Then she found a clean sheet and began again.
Dear Ginevra Weasley,
Thank you so much for your lovely letter detailing your engagement. Of course I'll come to the wedding! I'd love to be the best woman. Thank you so much for asking me! Of course my Rose will be a bridesmaid, she'll love it!
Sincerely, Hermione Granger.
Hermione stared at the words she had written. They sounded too sickly, too sweet, too fake.
She sighed heavily and put the parchment to one side. She didn't scrumple it, though, in case she couldn't think of anything better.
Dear Ginny,
Thank you very much for the wedding invitation. I'm sure that Rose would love to be a bridesmaid.
Are you sure that you're ready to marry Harry? It was only the other day you were flirting with Draco. I just want you to make the right decision. I don't want you to regret anything later. You're like a little sister to me, and I'm worried about you.
Don't marry him just because he rescued you in second year. Marry him if you're in love with him. Please, don't make the same mistake that I did, because now I'm stuck with Ron, and you know I can't break it off for the sake of Rose and the bump.
On that thought, how am I going to find a nice dress, given that I'm this size? Bet you didn't think of that, did you? I'm joking of courseā¦
I love you, Ginny. I love you like a sister. Please, for your own sake, and for the sake of your future children, and Harry, please make the right decision.
Sincerely, Hermione Granger.
Hermione put her quill down and placed the piece of parchment with the other one. She wasn't sure which one she would send just yet, but she knew that whatever she sent, it would annoy Ginny, who could see right through her.
She placed a hand on her stomach, where the baby was kicking, and hoped that her friend would make the right decision.
The End
AN: This is my entry for the Sincerely, Hermione Granger challenge over at the HPFC forum. I've been a little... liberal. But I hope it's ok...
