Summary: The FanFic is Stefan's thoughts just before his death to save Mystic Falls from hell fire.

Stefan knew that he wasn't going to make it out of this alive, but he was content with his choice to sacrifice himself to save his hometown of Mystic Falls. He knew that Damon would be pissed, but he made his choice so that Damon could live out the rest of his days as a human with Elena. So that his older brother could finally be happy. Over the past few years Damon has made huge sacrifices to save his family and friends, well this time Stefan was the one who happily gave up his life to save his brother's life. He welcomed death with open arms, finally giving his older brother what he always wanted: a normal human life with Elena.
When he said goodbye to Elena one last time and walked out of the Mystic Falls High School's double doors for the last time and he saw his best friend Lexi standing next his old car, he knew instantly that he had made the right choice. Because he was finally at piece with himself and with the way that he had chose to lead his life without anybody else telling him anything different.
Many years later on when both Damon and Elena had died and they had both moved on to the afterlife like he had, he knew that Damon and Elena had found true happiness with each other both leading normal human lives and that's the moment when Stefan knew that he had made the right choice to forsake his own happiness so that both Damon and Elena could have their own.
