Everything around him was dark, the light that had once passed by him stopped asthe search party gave up. No one else was there, just him and then he felt it. The Force.
"Master."
The voice was weak, sad, frightened, and guilty. It was his padawan, he had been lost, left to die. Somehow he knew this time they wouldn't be so lucky as they had in the past. It was over.
"Master, please help me."
The words rocked the jedi to his very being. There was nothing he could do to save his pupil, nothing he could do to keep the boy alive.
"There is nothing I can do."
The boy stood up and walked over to his master before collapsing. "We must get out master, the people, they will all die, the bomb."
"I know, but I cannot move, go my padawan, leave this place."
The padawan laughed slightly, then shook his head."I can't make it out master, the walls have caved in. Besides, my place is beside you, forever."
The master couldn't help but let the tears come. His life was ending, all he never got to do, never got to say, and his apprentice, never got to become the kight he was meant to be.
"The air is getting thin, we don't have much more time."
"Master, thank you."
"For what?"
"Everything, my training, the times you were beside me while I was sick, the times you let me know everything was going to be okay."
The Force was calling to them both now, the pain and suffering would be over soon.
"You know Obi-Wan, I never did tell you the story of the first time I knew I had to take you as a padawn."
"You had to take me master?"
"Yes, the Force would have took me early if I didn't. I saw it in a dream."
The student was quiet and Qui-Gon knew why.
"And you know something Obi-Wan, I'm glad I listened, the past ten years have been the happiest of my life. Thank you padawan."
"You're welcome master."
Their last minute was upon them now, and the things left unsaid was felt, in the force, and through their bond.
"Goodbye Master, I will be waiting for you."
Qui-Gon looked upon Obi-Wan's face one last time.
"I will wait for you my padawan, and I will remember you just as you are, the light of my life, my Obi-Wan."
The last words of the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn filled his apprentice's ears, his master was dead. He never cryed, he just waited, and he then felt all the pain he had ever felt hit him all at once. Tears fell quickly from his eyes and he screamed. Two hands shook him, it was Qui-Gon, standing in the Force.
"Master it hurts."
"It will only hurt for a minute." He said and stood away from his apprentice who fell silent.
Obi-Wan opened his eyes.
"Welcome home Obi-Wan, and I told you so."
The younger jedi smiled, his master always made himself right, always going though with his own words of wisdom.
"The master should never outlive the padawan." Obi-Wan recited.
"Never."
They were home, the problems all gone, the hurt missing, and the joy abundant.
