Spoilers: None.
Summary: I think I will go back there, someday.
A/N: I recently discovered Classic who at my new local library, and devoured any First Doctor episodes I could get my hands on. I sort of fell a little bit in love with the first Doctor, especially in story No. 16 The Chase. And then I had to write this.

Back There Someday

His first companions have left him. Susan has gone her own way, and now Barbara and Ian wish to return to their own timeline. Vicki is still with him, of course, but it's not the same as it was when he began this adventure through the whole of time and space. It saddens him, disheartens him, and most of all angers him. Has he not gone out of his way to show them the marvels the universe has to offer?

He is still young for his people, still young for a Time Lord. He cannot grasp why they would not continue to seize this opportunity and enjoy it to it's fullest. What has the London of 1965 got to offer that he and the TARDIS can't compete with? Nothing. Not one single thing.

Except, now it's got Barbara and Ian in it. And those companions of his were the one shining, brilliant thing that time had to offer. So yes, he is sad. Yes, he is angry. But there will be more shining, brilliant people there to discover and explore. So yes, he will be back. If he can ever manage to find that time and place again, that is.
