Election Day, 2000-7:00pm
Doug was waiting for returns, reporting results of the 2000 governor race in Virginia. He had 5 interviews with ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and his local news station. He went to every city and county in Virgina to fundraise and campaign for the governorship. He would have to wait with his family for the next three hours and thirty three minutes for all of the counties in Virginia to close. If he was reelected, this would be his final term (due to term limits.)
"I hope I win this election and make my sixth and final term the best," Doug said.
"You will win, Dad." Doug, Jr. said.
"He's right. You gave the people what they wanted. They'll have to reelect you to office!" Patti said.
"Dad, you went everywhere nonstop. You'll win."
Election Day, 2000: 10:33pm
