{…} couldn't understand why he needed a birthday. He wasn't getting any older and, to be truthful, he wasn't even sure how old he had been when he died. But Hanna wanted to be able to celebrate one for his friend, so the others were rounded up to discuss when the zombie may have been born. Hanna felt that {…}'s birthday was in late August or early July, because that would make him a Leo and Leo's got along well with Sagittarius, which was his own sign. Veser however voted Pisces, because {…} "looked an' smelled like a dead fish." This of course started an argument when Hanna took offense to the insult, and Conrad put in his two cents about how Veser was more likely than anyone to smell like decayed aquatic life.

By the time {…} got them settled down (which really just involved him putting a hand on Hanna's shoulder and telling him it was fine while letting the other two fight), Toni was positive he was a Capricorn, because Capricorns were calm and got along well with Sagittarius too. Hanna also liked that idea, because it would mean that {…}'s birthday would be only a month or so from his.

Conrad said that they had no idea if the zombie had been that relaxed in life, so it was irrelevant, but Hanna countered that they were finding their friend a birthday, not trying to figure out the exact real one. This prompted Veser to complain that if they weren't going to care about it, they could just spin a f*cking wheel and get it over with. Which started another fight because the boy propped his shoes on the table when he said it, causing Conrad to go off about the ungratefulness and disrespect of the teen, and Veser replying with rude, impossible suggestions the vampire could try.

Toni and Hanna, on the other hand, seemed to be having more of a debate than an argument; they were being unusually quiet, at least for the redhead. Suddenly, he gave a whoop of delight and high-fived the werewolf girl. Conrad and Veser, momentarily distracted from their screaming match, demanded to know what had happened. Grinning his huge, exuberant grin, Hanna told them that they had found the perfect date for {…}'s birthday.

May the ninth, Taurus.

It was Conrad who asked the obvious question of why.

Apparently it was pure brilliance. Taurus was an earth sign, and earth signs were steady and responsible, and it was also ruled by Venus, which was orange, and {…} seemed quite inclined toward that particular colour. The zombie still wasn't convinced, but then Hanna, with an almost shy shrug, smiled and revealed the real reason.

"May ninth was the day we met. And that was really when your new life started, right? You said you didn't do much before that, so what better day to celebrate both you having a second chance and becoming my partner?"

There wasn't anything anyone could say to dispute such an argument, so it was agreed, and the undead man finally had a birthday. It really made Hanna the happiest out of them all. It made {…} happy too, in a way. Though the sudden appearance of a Taurus-themed tie on his coat hook was concerning. He really hoped Hanna didn't get carried away…

…Not that hoping would prevent the inevitable.
