Unchallenged
Just a simple RobxStar for a personal challenge
Robin had been the winner. All his life, he had won. Stay out of the way when Robin sets his mind to something. He has only lost once, and that was his family, but he had earned from them so much more. And no matter what he said to himself, they were still on his mind. So when Starfire had asked him if he wanted to go to the circus he had snapped at her. Yelled at her. Then she left the room in tears. He wanted to go to her. Wanted more then anything to go to the room and simply explain the situation, explain why he wouldn't…couldn't go to the circus with her, but to no avail. Robin sighed; sometimes being the leader was the hardest job. He had to be that pillar of strength, that North Star that never led them astray. Walking down the halls he decided that he would go to his room and rest. He deserved that much didn't he?
'He does not wish you here.'
Starfire turned to her other side violently to get rid of that thought. As simple as that thought was, it was brought up frequently. She always felt…strange and different on this planet, and even before that Blackfire was the one that everyone was drawn to. She had all the words, she was learning Earthian customs, and she was mastering 'being normal', but sometimes it was so hard. And today she wanted a break with her friend, but with the flat rejection was…was…painful. She sighed and merely willed those thoughts aside; she needs her sleep if she was to help her friends.
"Good Morning everyone!" Starfire said happily.
"Mornin' Starfire," Beast boy said turning from the TV "Hey you cheated!"
"No way little man, all skill!"
Starfire smiled at her friends and looked for Robin.
"He's in his room," Raven said blandly as she mixed her tea.
Starfire smiled and said her thanks and flew over to his room. She knocked absentmindedly and was only mildly surprised when there was no answer.
"It is I, Starfire…I just wanted to apologize if I did something wrong."
She waited for a few minutes then left. On the other side Robin leaned against the door, cursing his position.
Later, after the Titans foiled a bank robbery it was decided that they would watch a movie. The movie idea was then thrown out by a unanimous decision that they couldn't decide. So instead Beast boy and Cyborg settled for a two-player game, and Raven some peace and quiet. Which left Robin and Starfire.
"So what is it that you wish to do?"
Robin had thought about that answer for the last few hours while everyone else had been arguing over which movie (although could anyone call Raven's sarcastic comments an argument?) to watch and decided that he would go to the circus…he felt bad for making Star apologize for something that was his fault.
He smiled, "Do you want to go to the circus?"
Her eyes lit up for a moment and she said, "I thought that you did not wish to go?"
Robin sighed, "True, but…"
She smiled, "You do not have to say it."
He nodded his thanks, "And by the way…" he then kissed her on the cheek, "Thanks."
Starfire looked bewildered, "Why?"
Robin just shook his head and thought, 'that's a talk for another day.'
