My FireRed file wiped itself about a week ago, and since then, I've been worried about my team (of course). They were the best team I've had. No Legendaries, no hacked Pokemon, just those that can be found in normal game play. A Charizard (Eruption), a Poliwrath (Hydro), a Kadabra (Bam), a Pidgeot (Aero), a Raichu (Zaps), and a Marowak (Avenger).
I'd started a new game, accepting the loss of my friends with sadness, but believing that they'd want me to move on. I again started with Charmander, and caught a Pidgey on Route 1, as always. After I'd beaten Brock, he said something out of the ordinary, as I usually just mash the B button while the dialog's going.
"They're waiting for you."
Shrugging it off, I thought my mind was playing tricks on me. It was fairly late at night and I had been drinking, so I pretty much forgot about it.
I caught a Paras in Mt. Moon to beat Misty. Upon defeating the Cerulean Gym Leader, she repeated Brock's message, and I began to worry. Who was waiting?
Eventually I reached Saffron City, beat up the Rockets, and got my Lapras. After receiving the Silph Scope from Giovanni, more strange dialogue popped up.
"You'll be able to see them with that."
Again, shrugging it off, I headed over to Lavender Town, the music soothing me like always. I climbed up the Tower, and reached the stairway where the Marowak ghost usually awaits you.
"They've been waiting..."
I began to panic a little, but the screen didn't flash into the battle mode. Instead, six Pokemon appeared. The ones that I'd lost.
"JAYMIE... We're sorry for leaving you."
"But it was our time."
"We are glad you moved on."
"Channeler is watching over us."
"We are happy here."
Eruption moved towards me. "It's peaceful now."
I blinked back tears, as they each took a step towards my trainer sprite and disappeared. As the usual Marowak ghost dialogue appeared, I smiled, for the friends that I had lost.
