Peanut Butter
"Percy!"
"Huh? Oh, hey Rachel."
"Something wrong?"
Percy shook his head. "Nah, just thinking."
"Cool." Rachel sat next to him on the park bench and pulled out her lunch sack. "Hungry?" she asked.
"What's for lunch?"
"PB and J. Want half?"
"Thanks."
They ate in silence for awhile, until Rachel asked, "So, are you and Annabeth dating?"
"Annabeth? Nah, we're just friends. I don't think she wants anything more. She's still in love with Luke, and I think Connor Stoll has a thing for her."
"Ah. Then who's your girlfriend?"
"Don't have one."
There was an awkward silence as the duo resumed eating.
"You goin' out with anyone?" Percy finally asked.
"Me? Are you kidding? I might be rich, but as far as the guys are concerned, I'm an artsy freak."
Percy took a ponderous bite of sandwich. A glob of peanut butter squelched onto his face. Rachel took her finger and scooped it off, then ate it. "Thanks… I think," he said, acutely aware of how close their faces were. Rachel blinked slowly. "You know something?" he murmured. "I don't think you're a freak…."
Rachel closed her eyes, leaned in. And then…
Bliss.
This was written for Vercingetorix1234, who got her own special version of it via DocX. Quite handy, that. Congrats again, Vercingetorix!
Err… not so sure about the ending, but it's okay, considering I don't support Perachel. And I had to write it on paper first, 'cause it was written from 12 to 3 in the morning. And I mean midnight, people. Ugh, was this hard to write. I, personally, support Percabeth (in case you hadn't noticed from Phrase and my various faves), so this was sooo annoyingly difficult for me. But, here it is! Reviews are appreciated and flames are loved, because I can make hot cocoa with them.
