A Little Miss's Upbringing

Her parents were always busy, but never busy enough for her. And even though there were the servants and there was Julie who were always there, it was her parents that were the most important people in the world.

As they should be. They were parents after all. Her parents. But they had so much to do they could have easily let her upbringing entirely up to the servants. They could have left her play times entirely up to that darling kitten they'd gotten for her one time that was growing in to a cat. They could have busied themselves in their work and sent her birthday gifts once a year – or not even that. They could have forgotten about her entirely.

But they didn't. They made an effort to be there as much as they could. To spend time with her. To walk around the garden with her and watch her show them Julie's new tricks even if they had a thousand other things to do.

And that was why she missed them so terribly much when they were gone.
