Ron and Draco discussing the only plausible reason that Scorpius and Rose could be dating: to mess with each other's heads. Because a Weasley and Malfoy couldn't possibly fall in love.
"Just to make it clear – I blame your son entirely."
"My so- No, I don't think so. Your daughter has her mother's brains so it's more than likely her orchestrating this farce."
"Rosie would never do something like that!"
"Well, Scorpius has no reason to dangle after a Weasley, so I can't see how it's him leading her a merry dance."
"He's a Malfoy, what more motive do you need?"
"More than that."
"She beats him in every clas- Oh Merlin, Hermione's coming. One slip up here Malfoy and I'll hex you to Atlantis- Hermione, look who's here."
"Granger."
"It's Weasley now, Malfoy. How are you and Astoria doing?"
"You'll always be Granger to me. My wife is happy as ever and holidaying with her sister in Greece at the moment."
"Lovely."
"Yeah. Wonderful."
"Would either of you men like a drink? I'm just about to head to the bar."
"No, thank you, Granger."
"Gillywater, thanks love."
"Well, well, Weasel, would you look at that… There is a face under all that hair, and quite a pretty one, too. She's aged well."
"Is it a genetic thing that prevents you from actively complimenting others? Or can you only speak in insults?"
"That's the big question, isn't it?"
"…"
"I might add that if your daughter looks anything like your wife, minus the hair of course, it's definitely her at the head of this sham. How cruel. I bet she's got as wicked a right hook as her mother, too."
"…"
"…"
"…"
"You don't suppose that… nah- couldn't possibly…"
"What?"
"You don't think they might actually like each other?"
"…"
"…"
"Don't be absurd."
"Yeah, dunno what I was thinking. Your son's obviously done something to her."
"I disagree vehemently. But instead of butting heads with you for the rest of this evening I think I'll go find some proper company – Nott's just arrived."
"You do that, Malfoy. But know that I've got my eye on Scorpius. If he so much as makes her frown-"
"Yes, yes. You'll go all Big Shot Auror on him, I know. Enjoy the rest of the evening with your wife, Weasel. "
"And a good night to you, Ferret."
A random little dialogue about Our Ron and Our Draco meeting at a Ministry cocktail party, but I hope you like it.
