Dog Star
Through darkness, grim and bitter, you pursued
This happiness that seemed so far away.
Still rash as ever, yet somewhat subdued;
For Azkaban had caused your smile to fray.
Not helpful to the Order, so you thought,
As tensions piled and dreams grew dark and cold,
Yet true friends can remember how you fought
Those new-hatched snakes for prophecies now told.
Shall I believe that you have truly gone?
A simple slip, and past the veil you fell?
The dog star in the heavens flickers on...
The ink lies! yet my tears still drip, as well.
Imagination's wings might bear you high...
Dear Sirius, in our hearts, you never die.
Through darkness, grim and bitter, you pursued
This happiness that seemed so far away.
Still rash as ever, yet somewhat subdued;
