Chapter 1:
Eight-year-old Harry was in the cupboard waiting to be let out, even if it was only to start breakfast. He had picked the lock on the cupboard once, but he was caught and his hand-made lockpicks were taken before he got beaten by Uncle Vernon. He had had to start cooking Breakfast, Lunch, and Supper for his relatives since he was five. He was finally let out. He went to use the restroom, and then he went to the kitchen to start cooking. His aunt Petunia was frowning at him. He got to work, hoping that his aunt would leave the kitchen.
"What did you do to your hair?" Petunia asked. "It's red! Do you know what this means? Vernon's going to come home and try to beat that freakishness out of you." Petunia really liked her sister's son, but after she broke the spell that Dumbledore had put on her, she had to pretend she hated him. She towed him to the cupboard and said, "Hurry! Grab whatever you need and leave here. I won't let Vernon beat you again. Not after what he did to you last night." She shuddered, thinking about the bloody mess the boy had been. "I'll write for someone I trust to get you. Meet him at the park. Now, hurry!" She whispered. She hugged him gently, so as not to hurt him. Then she went to the kitchen to finish breakfast.
Harry opened his mouth to speak, but she was already gone. He reached into the cupboard and grabbed the drawings he drew when he was four. They weren't very good, but they were comforting. He then shut and locked the cupboard. Then he ran to the neighborhood park to wait for the man that would meet him.
Petunia watched Harry run out the front door and smiled sadly. She placed the food onto the table, called for her son, and wrote a quick letter to her sister's childhood friend. Boy, was she glad that her husband had gone in to work early. She sighed, handing the letter to a raven on her window sill. The Raven took off, and Dudley came running downstairs to eat.
We know it's a short chapter, and we left you a cliffie, but next chapter a certain potions master gets a letter from an old enemy and he goes to get the boy. Please read & review!
