paying, but not a sin
He wasn't normal. And surrounded by other people, he felt only more insecure.
And then why they were there. To be "judged" – for whatever sin had brought them to that creepy place that would have made a good horror mansion for festivals if it was a more innocent situation. Though it could be, he supposed. Someone could spring up and yell "fooled!" and explain what was really going on – and that the pig guy wasn't dead because he'd stuck a needle into him because he'd been ordered to if someone tried to take their masks off ahead of time…
He took a deep breath, and let it out again. One of the others gave him a glance of – pity? Maybe it was pity, but pity seemed to be an odd thing considering they were all in the same situation and any of them could die just like the pig guy. And just because he was getting the orders, he didn't think he was out of the woods. It just meant he'd be disposed of when they didn't need him any more.
And in a fair world, his "sin" wouldn't even be a sin. He hadn't killed anyone or taken drugs or anything like that. It wasn't fair…
But it wasn't a fair world, and he was powerless.
