Deeper, Deeper
How could she love him so much when she was nothing to him.
She gave him everything and he left her to rot.
The city was burning and he left her to burn with it.
She never expected him to love her, but she thought he would at least tell her goodbye.
He was gone and all she had was pain.
She bought the pills, and the booze helped her get them down.
She was falling, deeper, deeper, deeper, but she didn't care, she couldn't.
He had fallen so many times for her to catch, but when she fell, he let her drop, and when she reached the bottom, she shattered.
She tried to put herself back together, but the pieces wouldn't fit, so she broke them down and made herself new.
When he returned, she was no longer his, she was different, her heart reinforced against the happiness that she knew would surely disappear if she touched it.
