Hello fellow humans and dragons! This is my first fanfic, so please don't be too harsh with your reviews! Constructive criticism and ideas are always welcome however! Also, I own nothing but the plot! How To Train Your Dragon does not belong to me, nor do the characters! I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: The Decision

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III sat with his Night Fury on the edge of the dragon sanctuary. Hiccup turned when he felt blue eyes trained on him, only to see his mom. "Son, your father is very stubborn, he only sees dragons as violent, emotionless monsters. And besides, he hasn't seen you since you were a wee babe, he might not even recognize you!" Valka cried. Hiccup, now 15 years old, sighs and pats Toothless. "But I still have to try. The Vikings of Berk are still killing dragons, and it has to stop. As Stoick's son, I might be the only one to make him see reason," he said, running his hand through his tousled brown hair. His mom, noticing this as one of his nervous habits, kneeled beside her only son and hugged him. She knew his stubbornness could easily rival her husband's, and knew there was no talking him out of this. There was only one thing she could do, and that was to give him her support. "You're right, Hiccup. I wasn't able to convince him or any of the others, but if anyone else can, it would be you."
