For Jordan, because this is how it feels when he's so far away...
So Far Away

I don't understand....
He had showed up so suddenly, popping into her life as quickly as Shinchi had left. But even though it was sudden, it was far from unwelcome. Suddenly she had a little brother to cry her problems out to, though she tried to avoid doing that to him. He was only a little boy and her problems were hers to deal with. Not his. So she tried to make him happy. She bought him presents and took him everywhere she could. He was her shadow and that was good, because shadows can't run away.
Or so she thought.
But suddenly, that woman, the one who said she was his mother, appeared. She said that she wanted her baby to spend some time with her for once, and come to America for a week or so. She had thought it was suspicious for her to suddenly appear like that, but she couldn't say no, she was his mother. So Conan had packed his bags and told her that he'd be back soon and for her to have twice as much fun for him while he was gone.
He'd only been gone less than a day when she started to feel herself slipping.
She called him by the third day. He had sounded excited to hear from her, and they talked for awhile, until Ran's phone had started to die. He made her promise to call back the next day and she had agreed, she had come to realize she could deny him nothing.
She called back the next afternoon.
No one answered.
It was no big deal really. Soon enough he would see she had called and call her back. But hours turned to days and days turned in a week and he didn't call.
Why do I feel so alone without him?
Finally he returned.
"Ran-neechan, I'm back!" he called out.
No one answered and he was slightly worried. He put his bags in his room and then went to Ran's room. The door was closed so he knocked.
"Ran-neechan?"
A stumbling sound could be heard and the door flew open.
"Conan-kun!" she cried out and scooped him into a hug.
"Ran-neechan, what's wrong?" he asked, worried because she had seemed slightly disheveled when she had come to the door.
"Nothing. I just...missed you. It was boring without you here to keep me company, Conan-kun." She said, smiling at her young charge.
Conan blushed lightly, but it went unnoticed. "Oh, I'm glad nothing is wrong then. I missed you too!"
"Let's do something to celebrate you being back." Ran said.
"Okay!" Conan said and they started to make plans for that evening.
I don't know why but it drives me crazy to know that he's so far away.

I'm so pathetic. But really, it's like torture sitting here knowing he's hundreds of miles away and not answering his phone or calling me back. He's like my baby and I'm worried about him.
