Yes it's true. I'm continuing their story. I can't continue on my original story, since it's a contest entry. But I'd much rather do this anyway. I wonder myself what'll happen. ^^
(Sorry if this is short, but come on! It's a prologue, not the whole story! I promise this'll get better.)
Enjoy!
The party had been at its peak; everyone was having an amazing time, dancing and laughing on a beautiful white Christmas. Tèa was the first to notice Serenity wasn't there. "Joey, where's your sister?" she had asked, looking concerned. "She went out a while ago; she hasn't been back," he replied numbly, swigging down another can of soda. The brunette sighed and sat down next to him. "You guys really haven't been getting along for the longest while," she mused, looking at him sadly. "Trust me, it was worse just after Yugi had run away; now she'll actually reply when I talk to her," he joked easily. "Joey, this isn't funny. You guys were so close, and to have her mad at you…it's just hard to take in. You've always been her hero and role model."
The teasing edge of his voice was gone, his face unreadable. "She'll be fine about this soon, I know it. She'll have to understand eventually I wouldn't let her stay with Yugi because I loved her," he replied defensively. "Tell me how that was an act of love, Joey. From what she told me, you broke them up because you were afraid he would hurt her, and that it would affect your friendship," Tèa argued. He kissed her then, just to shut her up, and whispered, "Look, Tèa. I'm her big brother, and I'm the only family she's got. I know what's best for her." She shook her head and muttered, "When she runs away from here, without a trace to follow, just remember; this was one love that really was meant to last."
They weren't in love, Joey said to himself as Tèa stood up and walked away. He would have broken her heart, and I'd have lost my best friend. Maybe Serenity likes him too much, and to love him after his breaking her heart…I would have destroyed him. He stood up then, as well, and sighed. At least he wouldn't have to worry about that, for now. He was guilty for his driving Yugi away, but morally, he felt he was in the right. The door creaked open, but Joey assumed it was someone else he had invited to the party, so he didn't look up. Tristan did, however, look up, and greeted delightedly, "Hey, Ren! Where you been?" Joey's blood ran cold; his sister was back. Everyone greeted her as well, but Tèa looked suspicious. "Serenity, where have you been? You've been gone a while now." She stepped in quietly, and looked out the door again, with shining eyes.
"I believe I can answer that."
Joey spun around and his blood turned bitterly freezing. That voice could belong to only one person, but…it just couldn't be. The murmur of the party was suddenly gone, the music screeched to a halt, and all eyes turned towards Serenity. Her eyes grew even wetter as she whispered, "You can come in, you know. It's freezing." The stranger stepped in, but he was no more a stranger than the girl he linked arms with. "Hey guys; tell me, am I any taller than last time?" No one answered; they were too busy rushing into him, picking him up into the air, shedding tears of disbelief, shrieking with delight that he wasn't dead after all. Serenity stood aside and watched with tears pouring down her face, she was so happy to have Yugi back. Joey was about to join the mob, with a huge smile on his face, when he caught look of Serenity's face, and his smile slowly faded away.
That look could only mean one thing; she had disobeyed.
Mm-hm. I might be jumping the shark, but I really want to know myself what I can up with as an end to this story. I'll try not to abandon this one.
Remember, reviews are loved! Just don't flame me? Byez!
