Leah Clearwater, her was a gasp between clicking teeth and moving lips, spoken like a prayer, an obsession, a devotion among the teenage population.
She was the dream, a goddess in the eyes of mere mortals – russet skin, dark expressive eyes, long brown hair, and a mega-watt smile. She was the daughter of two respectable Tribe Council Members, was in the running to be Valedictorian Class of 2005, and somehow found the time to letter in Track and Field.
Leah Clearwater, the Golden Girl, the Girl-Next-Door, Voted Most Likely To Succeed.
They names they call her are different now– Whiny Bitch, Bitter Harpy, Psycho-Ex…
And there was one name that seems lost on the tongues of La Push forever.
