Author's Note: Okay, so I'm not the best writer on the planet. But I have imagination and I've had a lot of help from a friend for this. Please rate kindly but constructive criticism is welcomed.
Depending on what people think of it will determine whether I will continue it or not.

If I were to Tag this as EQD would, it would fall into the Adventure and War categories (I am keeping descriptive Violence to a minimum if possible, but because ponies die in this, it will have to be rated 16+).

Prologue

Bells rang out throughout Varengarde, waking everypony up in the early hours of the morning. A Messenger galloped out of the palace gates at full speed, A messenger galloped out of the palace gates at full speed. He skidded to a stop when he passed them, trying to catch his breath.
Mostly everypony had came outside to see what all the ruckus was about, their eyes drawn to the messenger who was about to give out his message.

"Here ye faithful citizens of Varengarde! A new prince is born! Blessed with both wing and horn! Varengarde is truly honoured this day by powers above! May he bring good health and prosperity to our fair kingdom in the future!"

The citizens being addressed began talking amongst themselves, somepony cheered which was the catalyst for the rest of them. Soon enough, news had passed through all districts and celebrations were being taken into the streets for such a glorious time to live in.

The royal palace was buzzing with excitement. The same subject was being discussing about the newborn to the royal family in every room, by the servants and visitors. A new Alicorn prince, a sign of a golden age to come.

One has not been born since Five Hundred years ago, when the first Alicorn, Princess Myseth was birthed into the family. She changed Varengarde drastically for the better by founding the Magi council, and restoring order to the city by bringing the various Magic user clans together after a brutal Civil war.

The newborn sat in his mother's arms in the Royal Quarters, sleeping peacefully. His Father and older brother present as well.

"What shall we name him?" Asked Queen Cressida Reeve, turning to her husband, King Varen Lance the Third.

Varen pondered for a moment, then spoke.

"What about Erys? Named after the First King's son?"

Cressida smiled and nodded.

"Yes.. That would fit him perfectly, as your name did after the first Ruler." She looked back at her son who was stirring in her arms. Cressida soothed him, trying to calm him back to sleep.
And so Erys slept, unaware of the hardships he would have to undergo in his later life.
