"Are you sure this is a good idea Sara? Maybe it's better to start at the beginning when we tell them.. Even then I'm not sure they'll forgive us for keeping them in the dark for so long." They neared the scene and even though Sara seemed very amused about their little scheme, Gil felt everything i but /i amused at the moment.
"We'll be fine Gil, I promise you it will even be fun. Besides, if we don't go through with it, we went through all the trouble to get this vest made secretly for nothing!" Sara had been looking forward for this day ever since they'd ordered the vest and she wanted to go through with it.
The rest of the team came in eyesight now, they were all waiting for them in the parking lot, fortunately including Brass. "If that's the biggest loss, I'm really not sure about this.." His nerves really had gotten the best of him now and he wondered if he would able to pull it off if they were really going to do this.
He'd wanted to tell the team about their relationship a while ago, but Sara wanted to wait until they got a wedding date. After they'd made arrangements with the chapel, she figured it wouldn't be more fun to surprise them, so she wanted to wait until her new vest would arrive. That wouldn't have been a problem, weren't it that it came two weeks too late. Now they'd only had today left to break the news.
"Come on honey, this is probably the last time we see them all together today." She was right about that and whatever you made of it, this was their last chance to tell them. He might as well give Sara her pleasure.
"Hey, Gris" Warrick was the first to speak up as he came up to his team. "What do you want us to do?" Sara'd stayed behind at the vehicle to gather their kits from the trunk. Grissom had just started with assigning everyone when she joined them.
Both Grissom and Sara where surprised that it took them over ten seconds to notice something was off. "Sara, why are you wearing Grissom's vest?" Nick sharply commented. He'd interrupted Grissom in the middle of his speech, but the supervisor didn't seem to mind this as he couldn't suppress the smirk on his face. Sara was right again, this was fun.
Catherine had obviously brought some more thought into it, "No Nick.." She might have been talking to him, but her gaze hadn't left Sara's torso. "Sara, why does
Grissom's vest fit you?"
The soon to be married couple glanced at each other for a second and decided in silence that Grissom would answer. "That Catherine, is because it isn't my vest.
Since everyone is here now, we would like to ask you all to join us at the Garden of Love chapel after shift, 10 AM. But first, we got work to do." With that he walked away from the group, shortly followed by Sara.
For a while, they seemed the only ones able to move, as the rest of the team stood with their mouth agape, staring at their two colleagues who seemed to pretend their marriage, or even their being together, was the most normal thing in the world.
