Percy's POV

"Ok, take your stance at this white line. Feet should be shoulder width apart, slightly pointing outward."

Chiron was trying to instruct me in how to shoot a bow. Note: Trying.

I wonder what Annabeth is doing. Where is she anyways? Oh, there! By the lake. Oh, wait. Chiron's saying something. Stupid ADHD.

"So, pick up the bow and nock an arrow."

I took a black-shafted arrow gingerly into my hands. My past experiences with arrows didn't all end well. Well, at least the fletching is blue.

As I tried to nock, it the nock slipped past the string and I accidently jabbed Chiron. "Sorry."

I tried again, and it slipped past the string once more. My ADHD made it worse, and soon I tuned out completely and just autonomously tried to nock the arrow. I may or may not have jabbed Chiron a few more times.

With each failed attempt, Chiron grew more and more annoyed until he suddenly sighed and grabbed the hand holding the arrow. Feeling this, I startled out of my ADHD and grew alert once more.

Chiron guided my hand to the area between the fletching and the nock of the arrow. "Try it from here. It should be easier to control."

After two or three tries, I finally successfully got the arrow onto the bowstring. I saw Chiron conceal a sigh of relief. "Good. Now raise the bow."

I raised the bow, somehow managing to jab Chiron in the face. "Not that high," grumbled Chiron. I lowered the bow slightly.

"Draw the string back."

I did as he said, but as the string came back, the arrow fell off the rest that was keeping it aligned. I let down the string and tried again, but the arrow was stubborn.

Chiron once more grew annoyed with my antics. "Spread your fingers apart a little," he said. "That'll help keep the arrow on the rest."

After following his instructions, the arrow finally stayed there.

"Now, draw back to the corner of your mouth."

I drew the string back. The arrow scraped against the rest.

"When you release-"

Chiron suddenly stopped. This was because:

1. I had released the string.

2. My elbow came back as I released, jabbing Chiron in the shoulder

3. When I released, the upper limb jerked back, knocking him in the face

Suddenly Chiron seemed to loom above me. His expression was cold, but I could see a spark of anger in his eyes. "Perseus Jackson-"

I didn't stay to find out what he was going to stay next. I ran.

"Percy! What's up?" yelled Annabeth, seeing me running.

"Angry centaur!" I yelled back.

"Remember, centaurs can't fly!" she shouted.

I grinned. "Thanks, Wise Girl!"

"Good Luck!"

Turning right, I headed for the stables.

-line break-

When I arrived, Blackjack was there talking(neighing?) with another horse. When he saw me he immediately grew alert. Boss, what-

"No time to talk. I'll explain once we're in the air," I said, swinging one leg over his back. "And don't call me boss."

Soon I was properly mounted. "Fly, Blackjack!"

Blackjack whinnied and galloped out of the stables. A powerful flap of his wings and we were airborne.

"Perseus Jackson! Come back here at once! I will-"

I bet you can guess who yelled that.

Wow, boss. That's one really angry centaur. I thought Chiron loved all his students.

"He does," I said. "Most of the time."
