A legend as old as time is about to get an unexpected chapter...
Rebirth of Blue - A Yu-Gi-Oh! Tale
~ The Story ~
The world of Duel Monsters is an ever expanding world that can influence people in the most surprising of ways. One of these stories involves a young boy named Yuuto Koichi, a gentle hearted boy who harbors a deep fear for such monsters. When he was viewing a Duel Monsters tournament with his parents, something caused the virtual reality to go haywire as the monsters lost control and began attacking everyone in the stadium, causing several casualties to bystanders. While police had eventually settled on the end result being a glitch in the servers, Duel Monsters continue to thrive in the modern day and Yuuto tries desparately to hide those scary memories away. But when he eventually became sick of being the only among his friends to play the game, he finally decides to swallow his fears and build his own deck.
No sooner does he get into his first duel that fate sways him in a different direction, allowing him to inherit the legendary power of the fearsome Blue-Eyes White Dragon. However, he also develops a otherworldly link to its most prominent wielder, Seto Kaiba. Unable to duel because of Kaiba's insults flooding his ears and his fear of summoning Blue-Eyes clouding his thoughts, he is pushed to the brink of defeat after losing his new monster. But it's at that moment, when Yuuto tearfully regrets what he did and proclaims he's not worthy, his heart resonates with that of the dragon, awakening a new transformation in Blue-Eyes that never was seen before.
Along his journey of self discovery, joined by Kaiba's spirit as well as his friends, Yuuto must learn to strengthen his bond with the great dragon in order to find and retrieve the other two "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" cards that were said to have vanished from the dueling public...
~ The Characters ~
Yuuto Koichi - Age: 14 - Deck: Eyes of Blue
Standing out amongst his classmates with his radiant white hair and crystal blue eyes, Yuuto is your regular run-of-the-mill middle schooler with a fear of Duel Monsters. However, when he grew fed up with being the only one among his friends without a deck, he decides to swallow his fears and join the dueling community. He did not expect that his soul would become linked to that of Seto Kaiba, the previous wielder of Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Together, the two must work together to track down the missing copies of Blue-Eyes that Kaiba once owned.
Combining his new dragon with the others residing in his deck, along with the "Eyes of Blue" worshippers, his strategy is to get Blue-Eyes as fast as possible so he can claim victory. Before Kaiba will allow Yuuto to gain access to the other powerful cards, he must prove his skill at wielding Blue-Eyes. And despite Kaiba's constant bickering that Yuuto must duel with ruthlessness, his kind nature contradicts how many see "dragon duelists" as he sometimes worries about his opponent's well being over his own. After synchronizing his heart with Blue-Eyes, he unlocks his deck's "ace in the hole", the smaller but powerful Blue-Eyes Noble Dragon, a beautiful wyvern-like dragon that gains power for each of the fallen "Blue-Eyes" members.
Seto Kaiba
Seto Kaiba was known far and wide as a power hungry duelist and CEO of the Kaiba Corporation, having usurped control from his spiteful step-father, Gozaburo Seto. Under his control, KaibaCorp went from dealing in military weaponry and tech to advancing the world of Duel Monsters. During his legacy, he made sure that no one else but him would wield the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, ending up tearing a fourth copy of it after he forced it out of the hands of Yugi's grandfather. Unknown to the strong willed tycoon, he was the reincarnation of an Egyptian priest who wielded the same dragon long ago. But as time went on for the world of Duel Monsters, Kaiba's career did not. Sometime after founding Duel Academy and bringing Turbo Duels to life, his own was cut short when it was reported a "freak accident" caused his death. With the book on his legacy closing, Mokuba succeeded him as owner of KaibaCorp and his Blue-Eyes cards were said to have been kept under lock and key in the vaults.
At the same time Yuuto became the next inheritor of the dragon, Kaiba's strong attachment to it caused his soul to become linked with Yuuto's. Now he and Yuuto share one body as he tries to motivate the timid boy into dueling with power. While they mostly do nothing but bicker, Yuuto hopes their connection to Blue-Eyes will allow him to ease Kaiba's restless spirit. When Kaiba's will is strong enough, he is able to momentarily possess Yuuto's body. However, this only seems to occur when he wishes to speak with someone dear to him. He makes it his self appointed goal to train Yuuto in dueling so that he can hunt down and face Yugi in one final duel.
Mokuba Kaiba
Seto's younger brother who was adopted into the Kaiba family at the same time as him from the orphanage. Usually considered nothing but Kaiba's shadow, Mokuba is very dedicated to his brother and also was a good friend to Yugi and the others. Following the death of his older brother, Mokuba was next to inherit control of KaibaCorp. However, all of this proved stressful for the now young adult Mokuba. It was only with help from the other members of the corporation that Mokuba became an adaptable leader for KaibaCorp. Unlike his brother's primary focus of becoming the number one duelist, Mokuba put Duel Monsters aside in order to fufill his duties as CEO. He is working hard to expand the list of companies willing to work alongside KaibaCorp in exchange for funding for their own projects. Recently, it is rumored that Mokuba has found himself a "girlfriend" to help ease the stress that comes with being KaibaCorp's CEO. When the Blue-Eyes cards mysteriously went missing, Mokuba attempted to make up a cover story until the cards were recovered so no greedy hunters would try and hunt down his brother's prized cards.
Upon meeting Yuuto, provoked into coming because of Seto's spirit, he is surprised to see one of the missing Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards in his deck. While many in the company were skeptical by Yuuto's story, Mokuba was the only believer, stating he heard of weirder things throughout his childhood. After he challenges Yuuto to a friendly duel, Seto's spirit is able to speak to Mokuba through Yuuto and the brothers are able to converse once again. As a way of thanks, Mokuba allows Yuuto to become a VIP member of KaibaCorp and promises to lend as much strength he can into helping him find the lost Blue-Eyes cards.
Madison Walker - Age: 14 - Deck: Bronze/Silver/Gold
A new transfer student who joins Yuuto's homeroom after he first starts dueling. Many have been charmed by her silver hair and soft amber colored eyes. Usually seen staring off in the distance, she is believed to be the type of person who would rather be alone. But she begins to change when she discovers Yuuto has Blue-Eyes. After the two decide to duel, she becomes Yuuto's friend and motivational coach, wanting to see him attain greatness with the Blue-Eyes under his command. She is usually first to stick up for Yuuto whenever someone at school bullies him. Unbeknownst to her classmates, the reason for her cold outer shell is due to a lack of bond with her parents, mostly her father who is a struggling news reporter dedicated into uncovering the truth about the Blue-Eyes. Luckily for Yuuto, Madison agrees to not leak a word about her discovery back to him, knowing he would be probed with an onslaught of questions. After learning he was given VIP membership from Mokuba, Madison dreams of using Yuuto's connection to start her own career with KaibaCorp.
On the dueling field, she is usually seen as the typical "dragon duelist", one who uses their Dragon-type cards mostly to bolster their offense. Her dragons, however, greatly vary from the others that came before them. Using a sort of "LV" based strategy, her dragons upgrade from "Bronze-Eye" into "Silver-Eye" before unleashing their true power as "Golden-Eye" dragons. However, they lack the overwhelming power that archetypes like "Blue-Eyes" and "Red-Eyes" have received, often relying on Spell/Traps and other monster cards to evolve them quicker.
~ The Purple Eye Society ~
A secretive organization that operates from the shadows around the world. Rumored to work similarly to the Rare Hunters that was run by Marik Ishtar, their dedicated mission seems to revolve around finding and obtaining the Dragon-type monsters that litter Duel Monsters. Their symbol is shown to be a dragon-like eye with a black iris and purple pigmentation. Their elite agents, including its founding member, operate using code names that are akin to the varying shades of purple, though no one knows how many elite agents are in this organization. Under the command of the enigmatic "Violet", their overall objective is actually to use energy that they can siphon from the most powerful dragons of Duel Monsters (including the two missing Blue-Eyes White Dragons) to fuel a global conquest and they will stop at NOTHING to get what they want.
Upon hearing their name, Yuuto and Mokuba begin to question whether they were responsible for Seto's "accidental" death...
