Clammy hands trembled as they grasped the window frame, pulling the squeaky contraption closed. With a shudder, Mira slouched down onto her bed, curling up into a ball. She was always cold.
She had been for a long time.
Her stomach rumbled from hunger, but she couldn't bring herself to eat. The anxiety was too much on her system, starving her and preventing her from eating at the same time.
Warily she watched snow patter past her window, the dark bags under her eyes more pronounced by her pallid complexion. She couldn't remember the last time she had a good night's sleep. Bitterness had taken over her usual optimism.
The glass was always empty now rather than half full.
Her lip trembled as the urge to cry welled up inside her. She had felt worthless for weeks, the constant negativity in her head driving her up the wall and exhausting her.
Her depression overwhelmed her. She wanted to do everything and nothing at once. That was the problem with having both anxiety and depression. One never came without the other for her. She couldn't close her eyes for fear of her own mind working against her. Everyday was a nightmare, and she just wanted everything to go away. She had kept herself isolated in her room, her bed the only solace she felt she truly had.
Her thoughts were interrupted by her mother's rambunctious knocking on her bedroom door, "Mira, you have to see this! It finally arrived!"
Ah, the new tech that was supposed to help her with her depression while her meds took the time to adjust to her system.
Her mom had said that this new technology was highly recommended for those who dealt with health problems, including mental illness. It was no surprise her mother had signed up for a house trial. The company that made this technology was well known for quality despite not having been established for long.
Eyebrow quirked at how excited her mother sounded, Mira slowly pulled herself off of the bed, before clambering over to open the door for her mother.
As she pulled open the door, she caught a glimpse of her mother's hopeful face, before turning to look at what Hamada Tech had delivered.
It blinked at her, before greeting her with a small wave.
"Hello. I am Baymax, your personal healthcare assistant."
