"Tantalus"

Shibuya is safe. That's all that really matters, he thinks, wings curled around himself, a hand pressed against the Wall. He watches as people go in and out of his ward, smiling, happy, chatting with friends. They don't notice him; he's transcended them, and few angels come to this border.

He watches them, and watches television shows and movies set in Shibuya, and re-reads history books and holds a little reproduction of Hachiko's statue. He tries to convince himself that it doesn't hurt.

One entry fee is a small price to pay. Shibuya is safe. That's all that really matters.
