The golden glow of the sun fell across her face

Willow sat in the back yard. She needed a moment to herself. The gang was great. They wanted to be there for her. But it wasn't that simple. After all, they had just experienced the side affects of her not knowing if they'd welcome her back, that whole invisibility thing. And it hadn't been that long since...

It didn't match the dark storm clouds that were now in her heart

As always, her thoughts were on Tara. They never seemed to be any where else. And because her thoughts always seemed to be on the woman that she loved so deeply, and could never be with again, there was always an ache in her heart.

Tears stung at the corners of her eyes trying to fall

She heard the back door open. Buffy and Xander made their way to sit with her on the wooden chairs. She could tell that each of them were inspecting her. Trying to see if she was really all right. Everyone kept asking her that. And she really did love them for it. But...

A happy face hid all the pain inside

She listened to the conversation. It was about something that had happened right after Dawn had started school. They both laughed. She tried too. But there was still this pain of everyday living. She felt so guilty. Why was she still here when the sweetest person that ever lived was now gone.

The more she fights the more the tears burn her eyes

Breaking into her thoughts, Buffy asks if she's all right. She says she is, but that's simply not true. Now Xander asks if she is really sure if she's all right. She simply shrugs in response. What is there to say to questions like that. Her love is gone and never to return.

The happy face threatens to break

More conversation of their everyday lives. Buffy asks how college is going. But that's a reminder of Tara. That's where she met Tara. That's where they spent a majority of their time was at college. Why did Buffy have to ask? Her face turns a little red.

The warmth of the sunshine reddens her face

Now there is more concern over how she is really doing. Her face is really red now. She assures them it's just that she hasn't spent too much time in the sun. In fact, this is the first time in a long time that she has spent outside. Especially in the back yard. Her gaze goes where she has tried to avoid all this time. But it goes there any ways. To the window. The one that the bullet went through and took away her everything. Why? Her face reddens even more.

Or is it the strain to keep the happy face
