I watched as a man and woman exited a black town car. They were wearing the official Military uniforms of somewhat high positions. I watched the man, he would no doubt be the problem. I could tell just by the way he walked over with such confident strides. The man who was not all that tall had short black hair, a grim look of business and I caught sight of his white gloves; the transmutation circles were as clear as day on each. He was an alchemist then, how fun. That old man sends someone like this to come and pick us up, has he lost his touch or what. My eyes rolled over to the woman. She had long blond hair up in a ponytail with her bangs hanging off the sides of her face and her expression was a mask of important business as well. Despite the pair looking as if they might be on equal terms it was fairly obvious to me whom was the superior over the other. They walked over to the porch near me and stopped at the base of it.

"Hello, I am Colonel Roy Mustang is there a child here by the name of Edward Elric?" The man asked me and giving me his name along with his question. Something was off, that old man used to send people left and right however none of them had ever approached like this. I had never expected this to be the way any of his henchmen would come for us. It pissed me off to find myself so shocked by the man's simple approach but I have to stay calm.

Though he doesn't seem as if he is here to cause trouble I won't allow his façade to trick me. He is here for Ed and Al that much is impossible to deny and as long as I know that I will never allow them to take them. They can never ever take Ed or Al Because I know the truth of what lies ahead and I wont let them have them especially not without a fight. I stood from my seat atop the porch, looking over them at the rolling green hills for a moment before addressing the Col.

"Your name is Colonel Roy, correct?" He nodded once; I looked over at the woman. "And your name miss?" That cold business look did not let up on either of their faces. She looked at the Colonel and only when she saw his subtle nod did she answer.

"I am Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye." I see.

"The boy named Edward Elric does not live here I am sorry to inform you of this and that you have come all this way for nothing."

"What!? Are you serious? That's strange I had no knowledge of them moving or going anywhere else. In fact the townspeople seemed pretty adament that Edward and his little brother Alphonse Elric continued to live with an elderly woman named Pinako and her granddaughter named Winrey Rockbell. This is quite unfortunate don't you agree?" I narrowed my eyes at the man as he feigned displeasure.

"Yes. It is quite unfortunate but they no longer live here." He also narrowed his eyes at me. I could tell he wasn't believing anything I said but as long as I could get him to leave without them I didn't care whether he believed me or not. He could go stir crazy yelling up and down that he knows they are here but so long as they weren't taken I had no interest.

"You wouldn't happen to be ms Rockb-"

"Raven! Come here and help me cook lunch, the children say they are hungry!" The Col. raised his brow but I didn't answer. My lips only tightened together. I could hear Winrey coming closer to the screen door. "Raven did you hear me? They say they are hungry and granma says it's our turn to make their food." I heard the door open and two sets of feet make noise from behind me.

"Winrey!" I yelled turning to face her as the wrench was retracted from my head. "Don't interrupt me when I'm giving people directions." Winrey suddenly realized there were more people her other than just I.

"Oh I'm sorry Raven, you could have said so earlier. Excuse me miss and mister but where exactly are you trying to go to. If it's the town it's down that way. Otherwise ask Raven." She said pointing toward the west of the house. "Since Raven travels wherever she wants she knows where more places are than I do-"

"Winrey, Raven the children are in there crying about there lunch. When were you-. Oh I see. Girls go inside and fix the children some food. I will handle these fine young people here."

Winrey looked at me expectantly before heading inside. I gave the man and woman a last look before I went to old lady Pinako.

"Old woman, don't believe a word they say okay. Make sure they never come back here ever again looking for Ed and Al. Okay. With that I turned to do what I was asked.

O

I laid Malik down for his nap next to his sister and brother taking quick glances at the boys as I did so. They were still in that mumified state. I felt my face fall as I now stared at them. Poor Ed and Al had no idea what they had gotten into when they attempted to bring their mother back. All they had wanted was the happy life they had lost and the loving mother they knew and cherished to hug and kiss and love them again. Ed sat in the old rocking chair staring at his feet with a dispairing ly dead look. As Alphonse sat next to his brother on the carpet. The helmet of the old suit of armor they had kept in the basement now his replacement body for the one he had lost.

They both looked so hopeless in light of what they had done.

Old Lady Pinako walked in escorting the military officers right to Edward.

"Old woman what did I tell you! They are up to no good. No one ever listens to what I have to say!"

"Well of course not your only a child of course. You should be the one listening to what others say." I turned to the colonel obviously agitated.

"What the yell did you just tell me? Who in the he-" I felt the cold iron hit my head hard again and turned on Winrey. She narrowed her eyes at me.

"What did granny say? No swearing in this house!" I froze as I remembered.

"Whatever. I'm going to my room."

"Not so fast ." He grabbed my arm back. "What I have to say concerns you as well." I broke his grip from my arm.

"Look here colonel mustang, does it really seem like I want to hear whatever dirty lies that comes out of your mouth?" He smirked a bit smug as he replied.

"Suit yourself, I only thought you might want to have the same oppurtunity as Edward has." That caught my attention. What was he talking about an oppurtunity for Ed.

"What oppurtunity?" I asked suspicion bringing out my curiosity.

"How would you two like to be dogs of the military? In other words State Alchemists!" I stared at him dumbfounded. Now I understood why that man might have chosen this man to come here.
