Warm tendrils of a beginning summer greeted my family as we entered the meadow of wildflowers and dandelions, a perfect day upon us. My brothers wasted no time enjoying the sunny day. They raced ahead, transforming into knights moments before a life-altering joust; their voices resonating with laughter.
The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of lavender and crisp grass. The familiar aroma of honeysuckle danced around our nostrils, enticing us to be lost to its charms forever. A tempting offer I would've liked to accept.
The sky was washed a clear blue, thin whips of clouds lounged through the panorama. The entirety of my childhood is encompassed in this moment. This glorious porcelain shelter, a standing sentry sent to protect the carefree gaiety of youth; the very root of my existence. This time of complete irrevocable happiness was my sun, my world.
Then, like the closing of the final curtain, it ended.
