Have you ever read the poem called, "To His Coy Mistress?" Well if you haven't, it's basically about a guy who tells this girl that if they had forever, he would worship her with hundreds of years to adore every part of her. Then he goes on to say, since there isn't time, they should have sex now before her body shrivels up and the worms have her in the grave before he can while she is alive. Well we had to do an assignment for English where we posted a parity—a poem that is basically a response to another. Here is mine, from the point-of-view of the girl who received the poem from this creep.
"To His Coy Mistress" Response Parity
I received your lyrics kind, dear sir
But I must say they are rather absurd.
If you thought my response would be what you desired,
Think again Bat Man, your nudges are tired.
Yes, one day I will give all I am
To the bodily pleasures that are blocked by a dam,
But until that time, though we do not live forever,
None but the worthy my virginity will sever.
I have a life that first I will live,
Wrought with memories to forget and actions to forgive.
Until the time I give myself,
My innocence will remain high on a shelf.
I have always loved life and the thrill of a thrill,
But until worth is proven, I maintain my iced chill.
Contrary to beliefs circling the world,
Love is necessary for this non-material girl.
Friendship is pure, true and sincere
A necessary factor that must appear
In my life forever, that will remain true
For I need more than pleasure before wanting you.
To know me both inside and out
Is going to win me without a doubt.
No matter the years we'd have if immortal,
I must say your words do really make me chortle.
Your advances may turn another's head,
But my thoughts do not revolve around the bed.
To live is to fly, they say in some places,
But I do not want to be one of your ever-changing faces.
I love to have fun and fulfill my desires,
Though I'll think before giving into your passionate fires.
So you can chase me through night and through day,
I refuse to be just another lay.
