"Listen, I'm sorry, okay?"

Clarke was rushing alongside Bellamy as he stomped through Camp Jaha, desperately trying to explain the situation and how they had ended up here.

He was trying to get to his tent before he unleashed his escalating anger out on Clarke.

"No, Princess." Bellamy stopped suddenly, turning to her with fire blazing in his eyes and one finger pointed threateningly at her face. "No! I don't want to know what you have to say. You shouldn't have included me. I don't care about your and Finn's childish drama – it had absolutely nothing to do with me and not my problem!"

The usually calm and collected Clarke felt her own anger growing every second. Yeah, she probably shouldn't have included him – she knew that now – but he didn't understand what had happened. He didn't understand what she had gone through.

"Stop it Bellamy! You don't – you don't understand! Just stop! I know I shouldn't have included you, and I am sorry, but you don't know why I did what I did, and you don't even care. So listen to me! So I can explain to you why I told them that we…. you know… we….." Clarke trailed off, suddenly losing her confidence.

"Yes?" He looked at her expectantly. "You told them we what?"

"Well, I told them that we… you know…" A blush developed across her face, and she averted her eyes from his threatening gaze.

After a moment collecting herself, she met his eyes again defiantly. "I told them that we hooked up, alright? Is that what you wanted me to admit? Fine! I told them that we had a one-night stand. It was to show them that I am over Finn – which I am, by the way – but it's over now! I am so sorry to bother you, Bellamy. I want you to know that I don't expect anything from you and from now on, I won't even look in your direction. If anyone asks about it, say it didn't happen, say it did – I don't care."

He clenched his jaw and focused on containing his anger and taking deep breaths, before he said something he really didn't mean to. The exercises (which Octavia had forced – well, tried to force – him to do them whenever he was mad at her) were finally working until he spotted a figure off in the distance, hurrying across Camp towards them off. Once he realized that it was Finn coming over, he didn't really think after that. He just went on autopilot and did the first thing that had come into his mind and had wrapped his arm around Clarke's waist, pulling her close.

She started to pull away from him, angry at his sudden change in behaviour but more confused than anything.

That is, until she followed his gaze directly to Finn, who was now 20 feet away. She looked up at Bellamy, and after receiving a reassuring look, settled herself into his side reluctantly and apprehensively. Clarke knew that Bellamy hated Finn, but she never thought that he hated him so much as to pretend to be with Clarke just to spite him. She also knew that whatever they were doing was an very bad idea, but she didn't really have time to think about it with Finn barreling towards them at a fast pace.

She was still in a confused daze when Finn approached them, looking hurt and a little bit mad under his mask of calm.

"Clarke?" He said, ignoring Bellamy, "Can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Nah." Bellamy said nonchalantly.

Clarke resisted the urge to chastise Bellamy for speaking for her; it would only hinder their crazy charade.

"Do you need something Finn?" She was surprised at the cold tone in her voice, but her face showed nothing but bored disdain.

"Yes. I need to talk to you." He glared at Bellamy for a second before returning his eyes at Clarke, "Alone."

"Well, I can't talk right now." She gazed up at Bellamy lovingly, trying to sell whatever their new 'relationship' was. She went to hold the one hold not clasped around her waist. "I'm busy."

"Do you need anything else?" Bellamy looked down at Clarke, temporarily surprising her with the love she saw in his eyes. He didn't even look up to hear Finn sign in disgust or to see him stomp away. Clarke didn't even have the urge to either.

When they heard the footsteps of Finn fade around the corner, Clarke sighed and stepped away from Bellamy. She dropped his hand and his arm dropped away from her waist. For some reason unbeknownst to her, she was found herself trying to calm her heart and catch her breath. She told herself it was the nerves of lying to someone she had been so close to in the past.

The two stared at each other for a few moments not knowing what to say in the awkward silence until she cleared her throat, all anger forgotten.

"Why…. Um, so why did you do that?" Clarke asked him.

"Well, you know how much I hate Spacewalker." He joked.

She laughed for his benefit and met his eyes, which were lost in thought.

He was questioning his actions. Bellamy usually acted first and thought later, which definitely applied to this situation. He didn't know why he grabbed her waist. Was it a reflex? He knew that some part of it was to spite Finn – he never did like him. But that wasn't it all, right? There were obviously some other reasons. Maybe, he thought, it was just because it was in his instincts to help someone in need. It definitely had nothing to do with Clarke. He couldn't think about it now, though. There was too much stuff going on around the camp to think about it. That was his excuse, but it was definitely there. He just didn't know what it was.

"Well, what do we do now?" Clarke questioned. "Finn might not tell anyone – that doesn't sound like him. But he might tell Raven, who would tell Octavia, who would tell Jasper… who would tell literally everyone…"

"I could talk to her. Or," Bellamy suddenly got a little bit nervous and averted his gaze for a millisecond, "We could keep this going for a while. Just to make sure that everyone knows you're over Finn – and to keep him away, of course."

Clarke was almost more shocked in this moment than she was when she saw Raven run into Finn's arms at the crash site. Bellamy was willing to do something for someone else other than himself or Octavia? And for Clarke, especially? Just a minute ago, he was furious at her for even telling someone that they had hooked up. Now, he wanted to tell everyone they were dating? And act like a couple in public? Clarke was suspicious. What did he get out of this? What did he want?

"Why?" Clarke narrowed her eyes at him. "What do you get out of this? Why would you do this for me? You just said that it had nothing to do with you."

"I want to help you," Bellamy shrugged.

"Are you going to tell anyone about this?" Clarke asked.

"Have a little bit of faith in me, Princess." He smirked. She gave him a look. "No one."

"Okay." Clarke agreed reluctantly, not completely sure if she trusted him or not. She figured she could call it off later if she wanted to once she was done thinking about it. She liked to turn things over in her head before doing or agreeing to something. "But you do anything I don't like – anything – and I will stop this. You do understand that we would have to act like a couple in public, right?"

"Yes."

She gave him a skeptical look, "You sure? It means we might have to hold hands…. or hug or something. You understand that?"

"Yes."

When someone started to round the corner to where Bellamy's tent was, he grabbed her hands, facing her, and smirked.

Clarke took a breath in; realizing that being in a fake relationship with Bellamy was going to be much more interesting than she thought it would be – which means it would include sudden moments of affection and getting close to someone she isn't even sure she likes.

"Might as well start now, Princess."

She looked up at him lovingly, only stopping when she felt the presence of someone else. She looked over Bellamy's shoulder at a shocked pair of eyes. "Do you need something Monty?"

Turns out, Bellamy and Clarke were pretty good at this.
