Lost to me

Natsu stumbled around in the ruins of an old village. His cheeks were damp with tears and his head throbbed terribly from all the crying and yelling he had done.

He looked around for any sign of life in this dead empty town but found nothing. He couldn't stop himself glancing at the sky waiting for him to come back but every time he looked up the only thing that greeted him was a dull gray, it looked like it was going to rain soon too. Natsu involuntarily shivered.

By this point Natsu was very relieved to reach the border of the town so he could leave, this town was awfully lonely. Besides, he had already checked everywhere in this stupid run down town and he couldn't find him. Tears blurred his vision again but he refused to continue crying, he held his head up and vowed that he would continue his search.

Natsu felt the wind pick up suddenly making it colder than it was before. He shivered and quickly summoned some fire magic to keep himself warm. He had no idea where he was going but he didn't care very much at this point. As long as his eyes were still searching every inch of land and sky he passed by, for he was surely waiting for Natsu and Natsu didn't want to miss him when he came.

A gust of wind had sent his muffler flying off his neck. Natsu turned quickly and watched as the wind carried it away further and further from his reach.

"No!" he cried and tore after it, he wasn't going to lose it! He wasn't!

But his muffler was blowing farther away by the second and Natsu became deeply afraid he was going to lose sight of it.

His heart tore at the thought of losing something else dearly precious to him.

He ran after it desperately only to trip and fall on his face.

No! It was still getting away! Natsu didn't want anything to ever leave him... not again. He quickly picked himself up and tore after it as fast as he could.

He caught up with his beloved scarf and yanked it out of the sky holding it close to his chest as he cried tears of relief.

He looked up to find he had ventured quite far from where he had been before. In front of him was what appeared to be a rock cave. Natsu knew he needed rest and the cave would provide the perfect shelter for him but he didn't want to stop looking yet. He was around here somewhere, Natsu knew it. He had to believe it. The day wasn't over yet, he could still-

A single tear drop fell from the heavens and rolled down Natsu's cheek. He raised a hand and carefully wiping it away, silently cursing it from daring to drop from the sky while he was still amidst his search.

Before Natsu knew it, it was raining heavily. He tried to squint through the rain but couldn't see a thing. He clutched his muffler closer to him and let out another whimper. This meant he couldn't search anymore today. What if he was waiting and Natsu missed him?

Nevertheless, Natsu dragged his now soaked body into the cave and slumped to the ground against a wall.

He shivered and curled into himself trying to keep warm, the sky was crying even harder than Natsu himself was. He looked outside of the cave towards the rain.

He had never felt more alone than he did now.

Natsu continued to sob quietly in the distant cave where none could hear him.

Because he hadn't found him today.

He hadn't found Igneel.

Well... yeah.
