Authors Notes: This is my very first fanfic ever. Hopefully I've captured the characters well enough and that you all enjoy!
Fiyero stormed up the steps and slammed open the door to the girls' room. No, he really shouldn't be just opening up doors in the girls' dormitories, nor should he actually be in the girls' dormitories, but he wasn't in the mood tonight to follow any rules.
"Do they not teach you princes manners in Winkie country?" The un-amused voice came from the green-skinned girl sitting on her bed.
"Where's Galinda?" the prince demanded, he knew his girlfriend was with that munchkin tonight, and he wasn't going to stand for it. After all, she was the most popular girl and school, and he was the most popular boy at school, it only made sense for them to date. What spell had come over Galinda in the first place to hang out with someone shorter than her?
"Well, she is obviously not here, Fiyero. I suggest you knock next time." Pushing her glasses up, Elphaba's gaze analyzed the prince's mood over the edge of the large book in her hands.
He wanted nothing more to do than lash out at anyone near him, but instead, he sighed heavily, walked over and flopped down on Galinda's roommate's bed. "I'm sorry, you're right."
Elphaba set her book in her lap and suddenly felt a little self-conscious of her appearance, making her run her fingers through that unbound raven hair. Surprised as she was by his apology, she was more shocked why she was even worried about how she looked. Maybe Galinda was unfortunately rubbing off on her.
Fiyero glanced to the book in her lap, then to her. Elphaba looked slightly nervous, but cute. He blinked, yeah; the green girl was kinda cute, maybe lovely even. Well, this was the night for breaking rules, wasn't it? "Let's go out." He smiled his most charming smile.
Elphaba regained her composure and raised a brow. "Out?" She inquired. "Out where?" Normally she sat in her room reading or studying. And while she was not one to be won over by empty headed, flighty people, she figured maybe tonight she won't be rude. After all, ever since Galinda had been hanging around that Boq boy, and not bothering her, she was, well, bored. Is that so odd? To be bored that her roommate wasn't around to interrupt her reading with silly questions about makeup or who thought what about her? She sighed.
The boy on her bed took that as a no. "Come on! Don't be so boring!" Grinning now, he jumped up and held out a hand to her.
She looked at the offered hand warily, wondering if he would keep bothering her if she said no. "Alright, fine, but I will not stay 'out' too late." She slipped her hand into his, feeling her breath catch. She was about to pull back, when his fingers wrapped around her soft skin, pulling her to him.
Elphaba hadn't been quite ready to stand and almost stumbled into him. Fiyero's strong hand went out to steady her, and she found herself staring up at him, feeling something she couldn't lay her finger on. Blushing uncontrollably, she muttered a slight apology under her breath. By Oz, really, her… blushing. "Why would you Fiyero, who could have any girl fawn and fall all over you, want to go out with me?" It
took a moment for her to realize how that sounded. Why would she even think it sounded like she asked about a date? Blast Fiyero for making her thoughts run without her control!
"Because, my dear dark-haired, green-skinned beauty," Did he just really say that? Elphaba was making him feel all sorts of weird. "This is the night for breaking rules."
