The sunset then
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or any of its characters.
Personally, I prefer the stars :)
As usual, she found him on the hill, cloud watching.
"It never ceases to amaze me, thinking about how long you spend watching those things go by."
He smirked. "So you think about me, huh?"
Shikamaru was rewarded with a smack to the head.
"How about stargazing?"
"It's nice," Shikamaru replied. "I just prefer clouds to stars."
"Can I ask why?" Temari said, curious.
"The night should be used for sleeping, not looking at insignificant dots."
Temari laughed. "This coming from the man who'd sleep 24 hours a day if he could."
Shikamaru closed his eyes. "I stand by my opinion, woman."
"Your way too stubborn."
He chuckled. "So how about you? What makes you love those dots so much?"
She looked out into the horizon. She always did so when they spoke about such deep things.
"In Suna, clouds are a rare sight. At least the stars are everywhere you go, so you can always find something to look up to."
"Yeah, for like half a day," Shikamaru retorted.
"Well at least unlike the clouds, they will always be around."
He opened up his eyes and looked at her. "Yeah, it's so nice to look at the stars for a couple of minutes before having to inside, or fall asleep."
"Before falling asleep?" She said, her tone a little angrier than before. "You're always about to doze off if you haven't already whenever I meet up with you!"
"Trust me when I say it'd be worse during the night woman."
She sighed. "Fine. Let's just agree to disagree."
"Heh, fine."
Temari laid down beside him. "So is there anything we can both agree to like?"
Shikamaru smirked. "Of course."
"And that thing would be...?"
Shikamaru pointed ahead of them. "Look."
The sun had begun to set. The sky was a beautiful red-purple colour, the clouds appeared to have been painted on. In a few minutes, when it would become darker, the first stars would also begin to shine, and for a few moments the clouds and stars came together perfectly.
She put her head on his shoulders as they admired the view. "The sunset then."
Shikamaru smiled, leaning his head on top of hers.
"Alright, the sunset."
End.
