A/N-So…before we begin this little journey I wanted to disclose that I have never played the games. As of this time I've only watched the anime so my knowledge of the characters or what I could garner is based on that as well as my own perception. Since I don't quite understand why Yui is so passive while the brothers are so aggressive toward her I have come up with my own explanations. I promise to try my best not to stray too far from the characterization. Still, Please read and leave your opinions in a review and let me know if I've done well or need to improve.

Prologue…

Richter paced the room impatiently stopping ever so often to glare at his brother. Karl who had the calm of a saint, sat on his throne with an almost bored expression on his beautiful face. His golden eyes were closed as if he were sleeping, his long white hair cascading down around him like a blanket, he leaned back with one leg propped up with his arm thrown over the knee. It pissed Richter off, his nonchalant attitude, like everything they had plotted meant nothing.

"I can't take this anymore!" Richter yelled. "How much longer shall we wait?"

Karl opened one golden eye that slanted towards his brother's direction. If he didn't need him, he would have killed him a long time ago. As it was, he still required his assistance but soon enough his brother would get what he deserved. Did Richter actually believe Karl was blind to his ambitions? He saw everything and he was already ten steps ahead of his brother. After all there was a reason he had lived for over two thousand years and it wasn't because he suffered fools lightly.

"Patience brother."

"I've been patient! Have I not dealt with that bitch you call a wife? Have I not sat there and smiled while I envisioned ripping her fucking throat out?" Richter asked outraged. "I think I've been more than patient Karl. It's time I got my dues."

Karl ignored his outburst instead turning his attention toward the large gold embossed clock above the door. He watched the second hand tick ever so slowly towards the twelve. Not much longer now, he thought to himself. He of all people have waited the longest for this moment. He smirked fondly, remembering that day long ago where over a game of chess a plan was devised. Oh how he missed his friend Socrates. As powerful as he is, he was never able to rewind time that far into the past. How many times has he wished for death since then? A hundred, a thousand? He had lost track. Not that he hadn't tried to die, no one had been able to best him but that was soon to change. What was seventeen more years to a being that had lived so long?

The clock struck the hour, the ring echoing throughout the room and rattling the windows. "It's time, brother. Go retrieve the heart."

Richter smiled showing fang. "Gladly," he muttered, his coat fluttering behind him as he moved swiftly from the room letting the doors slam shut behind him.

Karl stood brushing imaginary dust from his clothes before turning in the opposite direction towards the back of the room. He flicked his wrist to the left and the wall slid to the side with whoosh. As he walked through the hidden passage he could hear the wails of a new born babe bouncing off the walls.

"My Eve," he sighed and the wall slid shut behind him as he walked toward his future.
