"I want to die" she whispered
"Stop Aelin" Rowan stammered, holding back the tears as she lay on the cobble stones, lying in her own blood. "We will think of something I swear, just done leave me please." The desperation he knew was in his voice. "Look at me"
Her eyes slowly peered into his own. "We will get through this" Rowan strained.
"I don't know if I will live this time" Aelin whispered "I have done wrong, and now its time for me to go"
Rowan didn't have the words to speak. He was scared, his heart was slowly fading away. Aelin, someone he loved so much was being taken away from him. Her eyes, turquoise with the beautiful ring of gold, stared into his own with love but almost like a farewell.
"just hold me one last time" She said.
He picked her up in her arms, gentle like she was a child. Aelin was still so young compared to him. How can she die now? He brushed back her golden hair and kissed her on her forehead. She was so weak. He cradled her in his arms against his chest. Listening as her breathing remained slow but deep, savouring her last breaths.
"Please" he whimpered.
She looked at him one last time, Good bye Rowan. Her eyes slowly closed. She went cold.
He roared to the skies and the heavens. Tears streamed down his face. Still Aelin's body in his arms, he gripped her body to his own so hard he thought the bones would break.
After a few minutes he lay her body on some grass he found underneath a grand willow tree. He wiped the tear stains from his eyes and brushed back the hair from her face. He stood away and looked at the body in which he called Aelin's.
He looked at the grand willow tree and said "Please, don't waste this soul so young and beautiful, she has done wrong but don't let something so young and strong leave me and this world."
He slowly closed his eyes, tears coming down his face falling on the waving grass. Something appeared next to him. He opened his eyes to meet a beautiful angel next to him. Shining with silver and staring at Aelin's body. She slowly turned her head to him and said
"My name is Nehemia, I was Aelin's close friend"
Rowan had heard about Nehemia from Aelin and about how she died but nothing else. He remained silent not knowing what to say. Was there anything she could do?
It was like she read his mind. She said, "Her soul has still not left her body, but it won't be like that for long"
"Is there anything that you can do?" he asked in desperation
"Yes, but there will be something you will have to sacrifice Rowan"
